Why on earth would they make an anal toy that's made of jelly, PVC, rubber, or some other porous material?
WHY?

I think it's a horrible health hazard. I hope no one ever tries them. D:

Have any of you ever used one that was made of a not-so-great material? Was it as bad as I'm imagining?

I've never tried anal play but I'm a little curious...though having something in my room that has germs from my booty on it that can't be fully cleaned out, YUCK! Not to mention bacteria can grow if it's left over time... I'd have to throw it away after one use!

Hahah...glad it seems to be a consensus.
I might get a jelly toy for trying something out that I've never tried before, but even then, I don't think so. With the points system it makes it easier on me to afford higher quality toys, so I don't tend to go for anything but silicone. :3

They make anal toys out of jelly because not all toy users are as informed as others, and so they continue to buy and use these toys. There might be people with a genuine preference for jelly anal toys, but I think the lack of toy safety education is the main reason.

I agree with Rin. The majority of people are totally uneducated about sex toy safety. A large number of people don't even know how to use a condom properly.

They make them because they're cheap to make and sell. People really shouldn't be buying them, but some of the toy manufacturers are very good at marketing and making them sound better than they are. They're also cheap, which is attractive if you don't know if you're going to like anal play.
