Depends on what I'm using it for. I have soft silicone, hard silicone, glass and steel "dildo" type toys (some are "crossovers" with massagers/probes/whate ver). Glass and metal are stiff, slick, and good with heat (or cool), but they aren't so good for wild abandon play. Silicone is nice for that or if I want something to "clench" around and feel squeeze.
Definitely start with silicone (if you're building your collection), as it's more forgiving.

It depends on how I'm going to use it! To warm up while I'm lying on my back, there's nothing like a really slick glass dildo. But if I'm going to be moving my hips a lot and really fucking the thing (if I attach it to my Liberator Wing or suction cup it onto something), I prefer the more forgiving silicone. Glass can really pound away at your insides if you use it for too long.

I like both, but it does depend on what I am feeling like. Glass is very good for holding a temp, is extraordinarily smooth and is a hard toy that allows you to put pressure where you need it.As an added plus often glass toys could be mistaken for works of art. Silicone is a wonderful material for the fact that it is safe and is nice and flexible is really a big thing for me.
