The idea of cock rings scare me - do they scare you?

Contributor: Snozzberries Snozzberries
I may be missing out on a lot of fun here, but the idea of using a cock ring scares both my husband and me. We are nervous about the blood flow and all that. I have read a lot about them - how they work and how they should increase playtime fun but i just can't get past my nervousness.

How comfortable are you with them, either wearing them or having your partner use them?

(Maybe you folks can give me convincing arguments to change our minds.)

My husband and I were very nervous about cock rings before we tried them as well! We got one as a free gift from an order we had placed at Adam&Eve, it sat in our drawer for months and one night we decided to try it out. He loved the added sensitivity and I loved the lasting a bit longer. We are hooked!! These are one of our primary items for both his solos and our playtime.

Start with one of the stretchy TPR rings, like the free gift Edens vibrating cock ring. You can either use the vibrating part or not, depending on your preferences. My husband loves the vibrations and we have replaced all the little disposable bullets with high quality bullets, (The smaller to medium sized bullets work the best).

Try it for small periods of time to get used to the feelings and to see if it is something you want to explore further. We started by having him masturbate with it on and having the ring about an inch below the head, (a super sensitive area that will send him over the top), after we got used to that, we moved it down to the base of the shaft for our time. I am doing a series of three reviews on cock rings we use regularly and am going to have a lot of information, cautions, tips and tricks in them, I will let you know when I have finished and they are on the site.

Most of the fear of using the rings come from the idea of leaving it on too long and damaging the tissues. These are prescribed by physicians for ED, premature ejaculation and other erectile issues. Just use common sense, relax and have fun!

If you're nervous, just try a silicone ring. They are stretchy enough to eliminate the risk of getting 'stuck' or being dangerous at all. My husband and I love ours. He has a problem cumming too soon, and it gives us another 10 minutes plus.

Try a disposable one first, they are super stretchy and only restrict blood flow a little bit. If you/he feel comfortable with that move on up to a better quality ring.

I have been using rings/straps for over 20 years with no issues as of yet. As with all things, listen to your body and take it off is pain or discomfort is felt. Also, do not wear them for more than 20-30 minutes.

Thanks for the advice - I think I might slip one into our next order and just ... you know, see how it turns out.

And that link is GREAT!

I wouldn't want to try one, the thought of cutting off blood flow to any body part concerns me. Not to mention that it would be foolish because my lover can last hours without, so we'd actively have to stop to take it off at the 20-30 minute point and that would just be irritating for me.

The Maximus 5-Bead was my first "toy", and I have bought several other rings (including a replacement for the first) throughout the years. Start with a stretchy one...and go from there.

Your only regret will be not having gotten one sooner!

They can be intimidating for some. My husband and I use them, but they never seem to work for us. We're still trying to find "our fave" one.

My suggestion to you and hubby is, get a cheap one. Something to "start with" just to try it. If you don't like it, then you can always junk it and you're not out a bunch of money. They have them for under $10, so you're not putting out loads of money or anything.

Use lube, otherwise therell be pulling and tugging going on that will probably turn him off to the idea afterwards. If you get one of the softer materials, youll find that its relatively gentle and you won't notice it as much.

If you're looking for something that can "hold him off" a bit longer and you're not up for the cock ring, Id try using a cream. Those can work pretty well.

I don't mind wearing them and my fiance likes them. If it doesn't feel right/too tight then you should take it off.

Start off with a really stretchy one like what EF has as a free gift, it won't dig in or cut off any blood flow. You guys will be fine.

Like a tight band on any area, left on too long or too tight is bad. However, if it is not horribly tight and used for just a short time during sex,I assume it cannot be a bad thing, since a LOT of folks seem to use them and we have not had 20:20 do a report on the epidemic of rotting off penis parts.

I LOVE them! But I've only used the vibrating ones with my partners. The others just don't seem like they would do much for my partner or myself.

It really isn't that big of a deal, I have only seen plastic and rubbery rings in use. And they are easy to get off. But metal rings are probably a little more risky
