A family friend of mine has had one, and I have heard of that, but I just can't wrap my mind around it. Something just wont let me believe that it is fully pleasureful. I mean, you're giving birth to a full-sized child. Maybe if it was your 3rd or 4th child.
A friend of mine had the best orgasm of her life while delivering the afterbirth.
For me, I don't think its possible to be in a ridiculous amount of pain and orgasm at the same time. Delivering the afterbirth was a non-event for me. I just wanted to sleep by that point.
Maybe women who have easy births can orgasm during birth.

Contrary to popular opinion childbirth doesn't get easier after 2 kids. Each delivery is different...my second was actually the easiest the third was HELL. I had two drug free births and the third one I ordered the nurse to call the anesthesiologist! I am horribly afraid of needle but I am more allergic to pain!

Really? You're making me not want to have kids! Jkjkjk. I always thought that they did since my mother's 3rd child came out like butter. Practically slipped into the doctor's hands. But you're right, it isn't the same for everyone.
Studies have shown that women have had orgasms during childbirth. What do you think about it? Have you ever had one or knows someone who has?
I've heard about this. I've also heard that fisting (usually by the husband/father) before the birth process makes the birth much easier and more likely to be orgasmic.
Call me traditional, but it doesn't sit well. Is nothing sacred?
its a different type of orgasm, its an orgasm in the the truest definition of the word, an overwhelming wave of pleasure.
I have not had one but I know there are women who do, I have seen a few live birth videos where women have had orgasmic births, hey, we are all different and if it is a nice experience for them who am I to knock it. I will keep my epidural though lol
I've heard of it, but find it hard to understand. I've had three vaginal child births, and though orgasms are better NOW, I can't imagine having one during the birth.

I haven't during childbirth but I have heard of it. I guess if you figure that the vagina is getting stimulated, even though in a not so pleasant way, it makes it understandable.
After having both of my babies though for the first week or so, I had a few just walking around and doing nothing. I think that your sensitivity comes into play as well as the stimulation on your breasts from breast-feeding, which I did.
It makes perfect sense, in my head at least. When a baby is vaginally delivered, it's hitting ALL of those spots we typically associate with sexual pleasure. An orgasm does not always mean you're clawing at the walls and screaming out in ecstacy.
An orgasm floods the body with the chemicals that are produced when one first falls in love. I think it's biology's way of creating an instant emotional bond between mother and child.
I think it happens more than women realize and there are probably many women who have had an orgasm and been unaware, but the chemicals were still produced.

I have had four, and my fourth was by far the most painful delivery (even though the total labor was only 3 hours vs. the 26 with my first baby)!
I had heard about orgasm during childbirth, but was never able to create pleasure from the pain. I did attempt to play with myself a little, thinking if I was at least aroused it would be better... but every time I covered up so that the Dr. couldn't see what I was doing, he uncovered me so that he could watch for my baby. I didn't want to explain what I was trying to do so I just let it be

Working in nursing, lactation and being a (former) La Leche League leader, and being a mother, I know a LOT of women who have given birth, many of them at home and undrugged. I have certainly heard that birthing orgasms happen,(I forgot to put it in the poll) but I've never talked to a woman who admitted to one.
It hurts like hell to have a baby. My guess would be it could happen, as the genitals are being....stimulated (?) but my guess is it's damn rare.
I'm actually one of those people who can turn intense sensation into arousal and orgasm, but even I can't imagine the quality of the pain of childbirth causing anything sexual. It a low, spreading, crushing, nauseating pain. Not anything like impact play or....anything else, except maybe being kicked in the balls. That's what My Man said it must feel like when I described the pain to him. Yeah, being kicked in the balls increasing in frequency and intensity for 56 hours. (That's how long my first labor was.)
But, I have heard it happens. My guess is not often.

its on my netflix list right now, but there is a documentary about orgasmic childbirth, I have seen live birth videos of such births and it amazes me and hey at least they got to feel good so I can't wait to see this. I felt good during my birth as well I was just numb from my epidural lol

My mom was the same way: my sister was #2 and the easiest while I was a hard #1 (and preemie) and my brother was a hard #3 (tons of complications eventually leading to C-section).

You were allowed to stay in labor for 56 hours? Wow.
