I'm looking for a new birth control, and I need some help. Can you give me some information regarding some birth controls I could use? VCF's (vaginal contraceptive film) are my favorite so far, but I'm still wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me. Thanks!

I would use another form other than VCF since its success rate isnt that high compared to other forms.If you dont want the responsibility of bc everyday you could try a patch or if you had enough money an IUD, which lasts 7-10 years. Its about 500, but considering youll pay aound 200 a year on the pill it pays for itself.

Are you avoiding hormonal bc?

I use the IUD (morena). Its going to depend on what is more convenient for you and what works best with your body and beliefs. Some people say that the UID "kills" off any fetus that is already attached or conceived. some folks respond better to the pill or shot. then again, I know plenty of folks that hate those two options because of the fact that they can make you gain weight. its best to talk things over with your doctor before you try something new. They will have tons of info for you and you can decide which is best for you and your needs Good luck!

I also have an IUD but only after I had problems with hormonal methods.

Personally, I wouldn't trust VCF but would rather revert to condoms, if I had to.

This is a very old post, but I don't use birth control. Used them the first few years of marriage and the low dose hormones gave me headaches.

I have been fairly happy with the shot other than spotting.
