Ever had a glass toy chip or break?

Adriana Ravenlust Adriana Ravenlust
I feel pretty confident in my glass toys but others aren't so much. So, has anyone ever had an experience where a glass toy chipped or broke? What happened?

I got in a conversation about glass anal plugs one time. The person I was talking to was all... omg... if you got in a car wreck, it could shatter in your ass and really hurt you. And all I could say was... if I hit something hard enough to cause the glass in my ASS to shatter? I'm thinking the rest of me is gonna be pretty messed up, too, and my broken anal plug is going to be the least of my worries.

On a serious note...
I only have two glass toys and I've never had a problem with them, though I haven't had them all that long. (Less than a year)

I do wish they all came with padded bags, though.

LOL, Carrie Ann. You freaked me out for a sec, then I was like "okay, good point..."

I've never had any chipping, but I've only dropped one of my dildos once. Nothing happened to it.

LMAO@Carrie Ann!

I too have dropped a glass dildo. In the sink when I was cleaning it and nothing happened though I cringed like I'd been burned! The only problems I've encountered was once I recieved a glass dildo that had a very large, defective bubble that was kind of rough and on the surface. I was afraid to use it so, I didn't....

No, I have a couple dozen glass dildos which I inspect before and after use. They are all kept wrapped or in padded bags. I've not had any chip. I never thought about driving with a toy inside me.

All the years I worked ER and OR, I've removed vibrators, potatoes, a broken light bulb, expandable caulking, a flashlight, a large vibrator, 2 hot dogds and a pair of tongs (hey, it was the fourth of July!!!) a tv remote, and a few toys with no base on them, and a small (6ounce) coke bottle from rectums. Never a butt plug or a glass plug, not yet anyway.

I'm really glad when people think about their toys before playing with them.

I have three glass toys and have not experienced any problems with chipping, but I haven't dropped them, either. I really like the padded bags that Don Wands makes for their glass toys. They're pillowy and pretty.

I don't have any glass toys so I don't have experience with this...but given that most of the glass is heat and pressure treated it should be pretty impervious to easy chipping or breakage. Obviously I'd be more careful with a glass dildo than silicone in terms of dropping it but you'd really have to try to break a glass toy (I would think).

I had Rainbow Mega Nubby in the shower once and a giant shampoo bottle fell on it. It made an awful sound and I was so scared...but I checked it (carefully) and it was fine! I think it's because they blessed it before they sent it to me.

I dropped my g-spot wonder on a tile floor once and it didn't break. I make sure to hold it with a firm grip now.

I just finished reading "IgNobel Prizes" which includes a list of items found inside rectums. The list was cataloged from a review of scientific literature in 1986. It includes the items Kuuipogal mentions along with assorted fruits/veggies, a dull knife, a knife sharpener, a magazine, 402 stones, a baseball, a screwdriver, a toothbrush, an ice pick and many more. The most commonly reported items were bottles/jars, vibrators, dildos, glassware and sticks/broom handles.

Lol - well, I for sure am not going to wear mine in the car!

I haven't had problems with any of mine cracking or chipping yet.

Oh I'm so sad now.....

My absolute favorite glass toy traveled with me to my parents house once. I was washing it in the shallow sink and the water caused it to slip out of my hands. Before I even knew what happened the damn thing was in two very sharp pieces and my thumb was bleeding all the heck over the place.

"Oh mom... I know you're in bed and all, but where the heck are the bandaids????" NO.

Then I had to figure out what the hell do to with sharp glass. My parents would freak over sex toys, I'm sure.

(I may have now replaced it with a new favorite, but I'm terrified of shower play and really, really careful washing.)

Think it was the x-rays?

Out of curiosity, how many of these were things that were really stuck vs. things that would have come out just fine (within a day or so) had people not freaked out?

It was the Glass G - spot by Phallix. The S curve with diamond texture externally. I'm not sure if that was part of what made it susceptible to breaking or not.

I'll warn you though. If/when they break - it's fast and shard are damn sharp. It did not shatter, just sliced cleanly. I had a deep cut that I didn't even feel.

I've never had any of mine break, and I'm pretty klutzy about dropping things. I have dropped my valentine don wands dildo on the linoleum at least once. I held it up to the light and there were no chips at all!

I made sure to kinda rub my hand along it quickly before the next time I used it though, as if I were jerking it off. I figured if there were any chips that I missed it would cut my hand... which is much better than the inside of my vagina! It was fine though.

On funny medical stories: I once went to urgent care for a small dog bite and when the nurse was bandaging it up I could tell she was trying to muffle laughter about something. I asked her what was funny and after some pressing and assuring her she didn't have to be professional with me, she says "I just helped remove chicken bones from a man's butt."

I've owned three glass toys. Two were Phallix, one was an off-brand. I've never had any problems with chipping/breaking thus far.

LOL.. yeah, I'd think you'd have bigger things to worry about and you could always say it was glass froma a window or something! LOL You know, after a wreck, you're picking glass glass for weeks!

I only have two glass toys too but not had any problems with either of them. We have ceramic tile throughout the house so I try real hard not to drop either of them to test their stability!

Just joined so I'm late to this thread, but I did have a glass toy break once. Like DBD's, it broke in the bathtub. Mine broke into two pieces and there was no shattering, so I didn't get cut. It was soooo annoying because I'd just figured out how to use it (after many tries)! I put it on the corner of the tub so I could wash it while I was showering and it fell into the tub. It was called "The Screamer".

Chipping can happen when glass bumps against another piece of glass, or something just as hard like cement or tile flooring. Honestly, if something is breaking into two pieces, it is a very good indication that the product was not properly annealed (cooled down) with a digital kiln. It also is a good indication that the product was internally stressed and an acccident waiting to happen. The annealment process (which eliminates this stress) takes a lot of time, and let's just say that some manufacturers tend to cut corners to save a few bucks. Time is money and proper annealment is not time efficient by any means. Another contributor to "breakage" would be the quality of the glass in its raw form. A superior raw material usually far outweighs the retail price of most glass toys to put things in perspective for you.

I do have one glass toy that I noticed had a hairline crack. The crack appears to be inside of the toy though--you know how the glass toys with designs inside of them seem to be separate layers or something? It's like the inside is that had the fracture.

I couldn't determine if I had damaged it or if it came that way (because I hadn't inspected it very closely when I first got it) and I do still use it and will for as long as the crack seems embedded.

I'm still bummed about it though, it's such a pretty piece of glass!

Very interesting, Adam. I figured it was my fault for being so stupid as to leave it on the bath tub, but maybe it was defective. I'll have to look up the name again and see who made it, just so I don't buy another one.

If what you are referring to is inside of the glass and the glass is a solid rod, what you are seeing is actually an air bubble (I know...it looks like a crack..but really isn't). As long as it is sealed inside of the glass it is perfectly safe...and not considered flawed by any means.
