If it is really messy, or I am not going to bed right away I shower. Otherwise I wait until morning.

Depends; usually no, but if it's really sweaty and/or messy or we have somewhere important to be afterwards then a shower needs to happen.

We share a bathroom with several other housemates, so often we aren't as likely to make a trip to the bathroom down the hall. Maybe we'd shower more often once we get ourselves into a master bedroom.

At night, I'm usually too tired. I clean myself up and often clean him up and then we doze off.
I had a freind whose boyfriend used to run to the shower within seconds of him coming. She said it made her feel dirty, and not in a good way. It's more fun to haze in the glow for a while, before dashing off to the shower. Unless it's a morning quickie and we both need to get to work.
