Gumdrops double bubble - anal toy by Doc Johnson - review by JewelsAndB

As with most plug styled items, the Gumdrops Double Bubble purpose is built for anal play. While it could be used for vaginal penetration, much of the design features that provide enjoyment would be lost. In truth, this product is all about stretching the sphincter and the full feeling you get when something large is popped into place.

One of the first things I noticed with the Gumdrops Double Bubble plug was that the material used did not seem typical of PVC products and that is a good thing. Missing was the chemical smell and greasy texture I have experienced with other products of the same material. The next thing I noticed was the firmness of the product. It can best be described as a slightly stiffer than a gelatin feel. There is certainly a rubbery feel to it, which is nice when you are stretching yourself open to 2"!

Unfortunately, the gelatin feel has one major drawback that actually turns the experience with this device from "ohhh yessss" to "ohhh noooo" in a heart beat. The problem is that the small and rubbery base has no real structure to it, causing it to easily fold up and follow the plug into the anal cavity. If you are not careful, this can easily result in a rather embarrassing trip to an emergency room.

Having a little experience with larger plugs and realizing that the base was not firm enough, I held on tight to the base the first time and still almost lost hold of it. For subsequent sessions with the Gumdrops Double Bubble, I have tied a string around the base to use to hold onto it. Not a great solution, but better than the alternative.

If you are a beginner at anal play then this is not the product for you. But if you have played around a little and can easily accommodate a medium sized anal plug, this will take you to the next level.

The first ripple, with a diameter of 1.5", is equivalent to a typical medium sized anal plug and the second ripple, with a diameter of 2.25", is similar to a large plug. The taper on both ripples is gradual enough to make the stretching easy while not causing the plug to be uncomfortably long.

Once again, however, I have to mention the one major design flaw, the base of the Gumdrop Double Bubble is just too small and flimsy for such a large plug. If Doc Johnson had made the base a full circle instead of two tabs, this wouldn't have been an issue.

While I have had past experience with medium and large plugs, working the Gumdrop Double Bubble plug into me was a fun and fulfilling experience. As previously mentioned, the taper is designed well enough to provide for a gradual stretch of the sphincter, allowing for a fun ride up to the 2.25" ridge.

Once the plug is fully in, the short stem and need to hold onto the base caused my second sphincter ring to stay in a state of stretch. As someone who likes that stretching feeling, I don't mind this.

As with any sex toy, and especially with an anal toy, cleanliness of a product is crucial. This is one area that I have no complaints about. The PVC was easy to clean with a commercially available sex toy cleaner. Since the material is not porous and there are no real nooks and crannies, clean up is a breeze.

The packaging of the product seemed to be fitting for the Gumdrop name. The plastic box was a nice change from some of the more generic packaging of most Doc Johnson products. While not as classy as the presentation box of the Lelo Luna Pleasure Beads or the display case styling of the Fun Factory Share, the packaging was appropriate and not over the top.

Overall, the Gumdrop Double Bubble held a lot of promise for me and I still enjoy playing with it. That said, I am constantly reminded of the safety issue that is caused by the poor design of the base.
