These anal beads are perfect for a beginner. The size and shape of the beads is perfect for easily gliding in and out. They are small enough to comfortably slide in, and soft enough to do so without any jabbing. I had never used anal beads before using these, and was extremely surprised at how comfortable they were, even when (almost) fully inserted.
They might be a little too good, though.. just be careful not to put the last bead inside because it can be difficult to retrieve! I speak from experience! Since these beads do not have any way to retrieve them if the final bead is inserted, it can ruin the fun. It didn't hurt at all when they were stuck up there, but after removal, it was extremely painful.
Aside from that, they also feel great when used in the vagina during foreplay. Just make sure to ALWAYS clean the beads after every use, as Urinary Tract Infections happen when feces enter the vagina. My boyfriend and I also used them in my pussy while having sex, which felt awesome.. just be a bit gentler if you choose to use them that way, or both partners will likely feel a bit sore. They are great to use in the ass during sex, and create a really tight feeling for both partners. They are also great for masturbation because they are so flexible, whether they are used in the ass or the vagina.
They are also a great warm-up for anal sex. Slide these guys in and out a couple of times and -voila!- instantly relaxed and ready to go!

After reading the comments posted, I wanted to clear up some gray areas of my review.
The purple jelly anal beads are made of a component called poly vinyl chloride, which, unlike silicone cannot be fully sterilized, so DO NOT boil them in water. These should not be shared unless used with a condom, and I recommended before, clean them using warm water followed by a toy cleaner. Don't using any strong soaps while cleaning them, and store them in a cool, dark place after use.
These anal beads are 11" long, and the largest bead is 3" in circumference. Like I stated in my initial review, just be VERY careful that you do not insert the last bead fully.. although they are pretty long, they can easily get stuck.. pretty far up! (Mine got stuck about 3 inches in, and had managed to curve a bit, so retrieving them took a great deal of hard work, and time!)
Also, use water or silicone based lubricant with these anal beads.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! I don't mind doing some more research...

How far is too far for insertion before it becomes uncomfortable? I've actually NEVER used anal beads and have always wanted to!

Every person is different. Go slow and insert one at a time. Use lots of lube as you go! Enjoy I was very skeptical about them at first but now I'm in love with anal beads and have actually opened up more to the idea of all anal play!

Poorly constructed anal beads can hurt because of ridges or the rope. A better choice is one of the silicone bead stick toys, with the added benefit that they're easier to insert and more hygenic.
Flexi-Felix is well regarded, as are the Tantus Ripple toys.

Yikes! I don't like anal toys that don't have "insurance" to keep them from slipping all the way inside. Makes me nervous! These should at least have a handle or something at the end to keep them accidentally slipping all the way in...Thanks for your review!
Careful with the health info, I think there may be a couple of inaccuracies here...
This toy is jelly rubber and really can't be fully sterilized! This means that if you put it in your ass without a condom over it, it will never be clean enough for vaginal use.
Second, bacteria from fecal matter can cause *vaginal* infections if they find their way inside the vagina. The urethra is not located inside of the vagina (except in cases of weird congenital defects), so even using the beads for external stimulation of the vulva after they've been in your ass can put you at risk for a UTI!
This toy just scares me overall.
You might want to add a little more information on them such as how long they are, and what they are made of, I think it would add to the review. I find the extended review format can be very helpful when writing reviews.
I have to agree with lexical's "Yikes" I definitely wouldn't want to lose these it sounds painful! They really should have some kind of handle to prevent this from occurring!

One of the concerns with using anal toys that cannot be sterilized properly vaginally is accidentally colonizing yourself with Strep B bacteria. Not a problem for women and it's actually quite common to have Strep B in the vaginal flora BUT if you get pregnant it can be a small but nasty risk to the infant during delivery. This is just ONE problem with fecal matter making it's way into the vagina. Jelly is one of the worst toy materials to ever use vaginally/anally as it cannot be sterilized.
