My partner and I have experimented lightly with anal, but mostly with short and thin dildos or vibrators (no more than about 4” long) meant to thrust in and out. We hadn’t tried any
type of anal bead or beaded wand anal toy before, so thought we’d start with a relatively unimposing one,
Vivid’s Acrylic Pleasure Wand by Doc Johnson.
The toy is a nice purple translucent color, and since it’s made of acrylic, it is phthalate-free, odor-free, and super smooth to the touch. I was surprised by the length of this toy when I took it out of the box, even though I read the product specs! It can be inserted 6 1/2”, and the handle on the end is about 2” long. The handle has finger grips, and the wand itself has a very gentle curve to it. The beads are only 1” in diameter, though, so they looked perfect for a relative anal beginner like me. We were both anxious to give this a try!
After some foreplay and finger preparation, my partner liberally applied lube to the wand and began inserting the beads, one by one, into my ass. The first one was a bit tricky, because the bead is rounded and smooth on the top, and not tapered for easy insertion, but once it went in, it felt good and comfortably filling. I had been worried that even though the beads look small, they would be too large and uncomfortable, but they were just the right size. My partner slowly inserted the other beads, and they went in easily, one after another. Even though I had never had 6 1/2” of anything in my ass before, I found that the beads felt very comfortable as he inserted them in all the way up to the handle. The toy stayed securely in throughout many position changes, and because it is slightly curved, although fairly rigid, it didn’t hurt or hamper me to change position, but made me feel wonderfully full. We finished this particular session in doggie, and the sensation as he pulled the beads out at our climax was truly amazing.
Cleaning the wand was a breeze. Acrylic is non-porous, so it cleans up with soap and hot water. I like that the beads are on a wand and not on a string which would be much harder to clean. Also, with the beads along a wand this way, it gives a fuller feeling all the way in.
Overall, I would highly recommend this toy. It is great for anal beginners and a lot of fun to use!
After a few months, I'm happy to say that this is still a favorite toy in my toy box. It's fun to use, relatively to insert, and most importantly stays put when it's in my ass and doesn't fall out like some other anal toys I've tried. Some positions are more comfortable than others, since this is not flexible, but it's great in missionary and doggie. My partner enjoys using this on me as well, although he can't be convinced to try it!
Look at that, Doc Johnson made something worth having. Nice review! And, it can be boiled/put in dishwasher/wiped with bleach solution for sterilizing.
I wasn't sure if you could boil or dishwasher sanitize an acrylic piece, so that's good to know :-)
I almost bought this a while back, but I guess I kind of forgot about it. Might have to give it a try.
I've had my eye on this one for a while since I really enjoyed another acrylic toy that we tried out. Acrylic is almost as good as silicone for safety but can be less expensive. It is much more rigid, however.
How comparable was the acrylic to glass?
General feel-wise, quite similar. I can't comment as to anal toys specifically, as we haven't tried any glass ones yet. Safety and cleaning-wise, it is similar.
What's with manufacturers calling things wands??
I think they're trying to differentiate between beads connected with strings and beads, or bumps, on a solid piece. I've always thought of beads being on a string.
Epiphora- those two materials are fairly indistinguishable. Think of acrylic as a cheaper version of glass (still as safe though). It's often a little more lightweight and scratches more easily, but on the other hand, is much cheaper.
