Rouge blindfold by Sportsheets - review by JR

The Rouge blindfold is a good starting point for blindfold novices. It’s comfortable, surprisingly durable, and effective. It blocks out light without pressing too much on your eyes.

Blindfolds are a good first step for people who want to get into the kinkier aspects of their sex lives while not jumping overboard. A blindfold is also a staple for people in BDSM or just people who enjoy the sensual aspects of sex.

The Rouge blindfold is made from faux-leather, I believe, from faux-cows. It does have a slight rubber smell from the elastic and the faux-leather. It eventually fades or you get used to it. The padding of the blindfold is very thin, less than ¼ inch, but still effective. The elastic straps are you usual garden variety elastic straps. On the Rouge, they keep it on your head without crushing it.

The texture of the lining doesn’t catch your eye lashes much, if at all.

The design of this pretty simple blindfold is the biggest bonus. It doesn’t press hard against your eyes and doesn’t allow light in at all. It forms well to your face without forcing its shape to your eyes/face.

The stitching, at first, looks pretty shoddy. But after using it and on further examination, it’s not bad. It looks as though it’s more for design than use. The stitching is done quite well, even on the straps.

The Rouge held its shape comfortably to my head. It was a little rough to the bridge of my nose and left a mark, but not too bad. The mark went away after a few minutes.

I don’t have too many heads laying around my room for comparison, but it seems to fit the average size/shape of an adult’s head. My girlfriend and I have differently sized heads and neither one of use really had a problem keeping it on.

My girlfriend and I both agree that the Rouge is very effective at blocking out light. The bridge of her nose is a bit lower than mine, so I think her vision was more blacked out than mine. I could see only the slightest bit of light coming in from the left side of the bridge of my nose. To compensate for this, I just kept my eyes closed (which is just a good thing to do with a blindfold anyway).

When using a blindfold, remember that you’ll be very sensitive to light for a few minutes after you take it off.

As the Rouge isn’t a vibe, dildo, plug, etc, care should be pretty light. If you do get anything on the genuine faux-leather, water and a light scrubbing with a toothbrush should get whatever you managed to spray yourself in the face with.

We haven’t had to wash it yet, but if/when it comes up, I’ll be sure to post more on clean up.

I think everyone should have a blindfold on hand, especially this one, for sensual experiences. Sex should be sensual and taking away one sense to have the other senses compensate is a great experience. My girlfriend and I enjoyed using the Rouge. It wasn't our first blindfold, but it's the best one we have.
