It makes a very thuddy, slightly slappy sound when used, with a sting that can range from light to mid-range, depending on the strength of the swing. Although it certainly creates some red marks, they didn't stick around. The falls are narrow, which gives them the tendency to tangle a bit, but this hasn't created any issues with use.
