Ball gag - mouth gag by Cal Exotics - review by Akikaze

While a good piece for beginners or someone with a smaller mouth, I would certainly purchase the next gag up. It might be pleasant for beginners because of the quick release in case of panic, but I feel the rubber smell/taste could be off-putting on purchasing another gag.

My partner seems to have little issue with this gag. He likes that it is smaller than his mouth, allowing him to still get "words" out just in case. He is new to the BDSM scene, so he is looking for items that don't seem "scary" to him. While I wouldn't use it, it does have its advantages. The only issue he takes with it is that his hair is longer. He has to do some serious hair tying to keep the gag from ripping out his hair.

I found that while figuring out what to do with my mouth and teeth, I rubbed the sides of my mouth raw. There is no protective bit where the leather meets the side of the rubber gag. If you are not careful, you can chaff your lips and cheeks. I would recommend a gag with treated leather if you have sensitive skin.

Straight out of the package, the gag smelled of rubber. I popped the gag in my mouth, and it tasted just like it smelled. I couldn't wash the smell out of the gag, but the taste at least settled. When you start working up a good drool with this gag, you don't notice the smell, but it does make me crinkle my nose a bit before I put it on.

Attached to the rubber gag are two simple leather straps. Nothing special about the straps; they are grey in color like the gag and are strong. I tried tugging and pulling on the straps and they wouldn't give way. I like this, because I do occasionally tug on the back of the gag when it's on my partner. It didn't slip or dig into his skin. The release cinch is kind of cheap. If you tug just a bit too hard or move in the wrong way, it can become loose, thus losing the positioning of the gag in your mouth.

I feel that the ball is too small for my mouth. I kept over-biting on it, not being able to find a right position for my teeth with it. It stretched my jaw so much as it annoyed it. I mean, this can be great because I like a little tug, but when the gag can really choke me if played with incorrectly frightens me.

I did not like the performance of this gag. The ball is too small for my mouth and I constantly found myself having to adjust my jaw for it. The small size didn't even allow my jaw to find a resting spot, so I was paying attention to the gag more than the sex. I don't even have that large of a mouth, no more than a half a fist. Since I was doing all that adjusting, the leather straps started to chaff the sides of my mouth. If I applied some chap stick I could avoid it, but who really thinks of that in the moment?

When I use a gag, I want to be silenced and forced to drool. This ball gag achieved the drooling part, only because the taste was so powerful.

The only real pros I can see with this gag are how easy it is to use and that you can be a bit rough with it on. The leather straps can hold up to some force, the rubber ball being able to bitten numerous times.

Since the straps are leather, I wouldn't go soaking this in water. Spot clean the straps and use a warm wash clothe to wipe down the rubber. You can wash the cinch however you feel like, it's just hard plastic with a metal spring. I don't use the box to store this because it is just too hard to get back in the packaging. I wrap it in a small piece of cloth to help keep from getting random tastes on the rubber ball.

Simple, non-discreet packaging. The package includes two pictures of how the gag is to be worn, which was actually nice to have. Otherwise, nothing special, just recycle it.

I don't like this item. It smells, is too small, and catches on my hair. It is an okay item to have for back-up, but I wouldn't keep it around as first string toy.
