Kinky Chains

The Chain Tickler is a sensation-play toy that will add some new sensations to your love life. It works well for being sensual, electric play, tickling, and temperature play. It's well-made and seems like it will be sticking around. I'm really fond of it.

The Chain Tickler is a small tickler intended for added sensation with your partner. It isn't intended as a rough impact nor insertable toy - just for running it over the skin and causing different sensations. The handle of the toy is made from plastic while the beads are metal beads. There are six different strands of metal beads that come out from the top of this tickler. The tickler is about two feet in total length including the metal beads. From what I can tell, the metal beads are superglued into the little "cup" at the top of your plastic stick. There's a small tube of extra plastic included at the bottom of your plastic stick intended to make it easier to grasp your Chain Tickler.

The tickler doesn't really come in any specific packaging. It will come in a large box since the box has to be large enough in size to contain such a long toy. There will be a small cardboard tag attached to the plastic stick that will state the name of the toy as well as give "sexy hints" as to how to use it on the back. It recommends things like writing words on your partner's back and challenging them to try and figure out what you wrote - simple games like that.

You know what I'm surprised by? I bought a couple ticklers at the same time in the same order all made by Sportsheets, and out of all of them, this one seems to be the most durable and well-made. The other feather ticklers seem to be a bit questionable on quality, and I'm wondering if the feather is going to fall out. WIth this one, I sincerely believe that the chain balls are going to stay attached to this plastic stick. The plastic stick is bendable but doesn't seem to break, and overall, for under ten dollars, it seems pretty durable.

So how do these feel? Depends on if you are looking at the toy or if it's a surprise. If you are watching somebody drag these along your skin, it won't be tickly unless they happen to hit a sensitive spot (like the bottom of my boyfriend's feet.) However, if someone isn't watching/is blindfolded, this makes a lot more areas a lot more sensitive - especially if you have other ticklers/sensation items to mix it up with. When I run it over my own hand, it feels sensual and really makes me want to play with it again with my boyfriend. The chains can tickle in an itchy kind-of way if left and moved around the same spot for an extended period of time though. As a tickler, though, it definitely passes. It also passes as an erotic toy since it makes the receiver a lot more sensitive to touch.

When it comes to more kinky fun, this can be used with temperature play to make everything more fun. Whether you want to get a mug of hot water or freezing cold water and dip the chains into that or whether you want to let it sit in the freezer for a bit, it retains temperature really nicely. (I recommend the water because then you leave a trail of water you could "lick" up too.) You could also use this with other liquidy substances like alcohol or something if you happen to be a drinker. (I don't imagine anything more firm like melted chocolate or anything would come off very easily from the chains though.) When it comes to temperature play, this one passes for that too.

The other use for this is as a light impact toy. The tails do end up falling in a large group, and surprisingly, this little guy freakin' hurts! A flogger made of these tails could be killer. Because of how heavy the beads are coupled with how easy it is for them to wrap around, if used with anything but a very light touch, this can be painful. I hit myself in the hand joking around, and it left a sting for awhile. I don't think this was ever intended for rough impact use, though, so I'd highly doubt the little metal balls would stay attached to the plastic rod for long if you tried going that route with it. As an impact toy, I would just avoid it. It's a little painful (unless that's what you're going for. It's not really the good kind of painful. And if you pull this out as a "scary" impact toy, you're going to get laughed at. But you can show them....)
Experience
Other reviewers have mentioned using this with a Violet Wand. It would work for that. We don't have a Violet Wand ourselves but have experience with one, and as long as you held directly onto the handle, it should conduct electricity nicely. However, if you want to go the Violet Wand route, you could probably just pick up the little metal beads at a local craft shop. I like the security of the plastic handle though. For Violet Wand usage, it passes.

For cleaning, you should be able to just dip the tails into a nice cleaning solution or boiling water. It shouldn't really draw blood though, so swishing these around in antibacterial soap and warm water would clean it well. The only concern I have is about messes getting inside of the top-of-the-rod-cup-place where the metal beads attach. For storage, it doesn't really come with a specific storage option. However, we store all of our ticklers in a tall flower vase - works great for storage, doesn't hurt my feather ones, and it's easy to pick one at a glance.

I like our Chain Tickler. Out of all of the ticklers I bought, this one is definitely my favorite. It feels sensual, is more "out of the ordinary" than a feather, and seems well made. This is toy we'll be using often.
Follow-up commentary
The Chain Tickler is still my favorite tickler that we own. It's durable, it's tickly, it can work as an impact toy, and it works for temperature play. With multiple uses, the little chains are still happily attached to the rod. The entire thing just still looks brand new - it has a lot better quality than I thought it would.
