Tex VixSkin - realistic dildo discontinued by Vixen Creations, Inc - review by Rin (aka Nire)

After playing with Vixen Creation's Spur for a while and growing to love VixSkin, I began to feel I was ready to finally go a little larger and try another VixSkin toy. My two picks were either the Mustang or the Tex, and since extra length wasn't going to do me any good, Tex won out. The choice turned out to be a wise one.

The Tex is 6" long, with 5" being insertable, and a diameter of 1.5". Made of dual-density silicone, it has a soft, giving outer layer and a firm yet bendable core. The head is made completely of the softer of the two layers, allowing for a gentle entrance. The base is large and very thick, and only with a great amount of effort can it be bent (at least by me: the lady in possession of some very tiny hands, all told), and even then not too far. This makes it completely anal-safe and harness-compatible.

Being made of 100% high-grade silicone, the Tex is completely body-safe and can be sterilized through boiling or bleaching. You can also clean it normally using soap and water or toy cleaner. Water-based lubes are the only option here, as the dual-density means that a patch test on the base will not give you conclusive results as to what a silicone or hybrid lube might do to the shaft.

As for how it feels? Phenomenal. Unlike the Spur, the Tex is able to hang onto its curve fairly well when held horizontally (though for the curious, the shaft is capable of bending completely around in any direction, though it's noticeably more stubborn than its little brother in this regard), which means its favorite place to be is the G-spot. For smaller users, the vaginal opening will also get quite a bit of stimulation, getting stretched a bit, but not uncomfortably so. The softer silicone is extremely forgiving, and even if you're not used to the girth (like I wasn't), the squishy head and outer layer will allow your body to adjust fairly quickly, and are not likely to hurt the cervix if you happen to bump it. When in doubt, use lots of lube and warm yourself up a tad ahead of time. The prominent head may brush against the pubic bone and give a little "popping" sensation upon removal, but it's soft enough that I honestly can't see it catching at all. It does produce quite a bit of drag, though I know at least a few people will enjoy that feeling, while lube will correct it for the rest of us.

The Tex does have a few minor flaws. The surface does have a faintly sticky feel to it, but it's not so bad as to be unpleasant. This stickiness increases a little after you've had a VixSkin toy for a little bit, but it's not really noticeable unless you compare a new one to an older one, and it doesn't affect its performance at all (similarly, VixSkin is very shiny when brand new, which will also go away over time). You'll also find that the Tex attracts lint. A lot. It's best to give it a quick rinse before playing to clean off stray hairs. Finally, if you use lube that has a distinct scent or use the toy anally, the Tex is liable to hold onto any smells for a little while. Allowing it to air out for an hour or two usually helps to get rid of clinging scents, while putting it away immediately will cause the smell to linger.

Because of the soft nature of the silicone, VixSkin toys should be stored upright without touching other toys, preferably in their original packaging, in order to prevent unwanted indentations. On a side note, I've observed that VixSkin tubes usually have enough extra room at the top that they can be trimmed down by at least an inch to help with space concerns. Using the cap to measure will help with this.

Stepping up in girth can be a little scary for those of us used to little toys. The Tex is undoubtedly my recommendation if that sounds like you, since that was precisely my experience. Or, if you're already used to toys this size and are in the market for a lifelike, body-safe and completely comfortable dildo, then the Tex can certainly fit that bill, as well.

If the Spur is the dildo I'd marry, then the Tex would be the one I'd cheat on him with... though thankfully dildos aren't sentient, which eliminates the potential for what would be an extremely awkward situation otherwise. Aldan (as I call mine, since I'm not fond of the name Tex) hits all my money spots perfectly. And while his girth is such that it takes between 10 and 30 seconds for me to get used to him, once he's in there and I've adjusted I'm in complete bliss. On top of that, Aldan is the only toy to ever make me smile while using him. Some of you on the forums have likely seen me gushing about this toy, and my desire for new dildos has lessened considerably since he arrived. That's how satisfied I am.

I actually had been admiring him here on EdenFantasys for a while before I took the plunge. It was after I took a trip to a local, high-end sex shop and got to feel the Tex model for myself that I finally decided that I had to have one of my own. I made the order as soon as I got home that night (though admittedly, it helped that he was on sale at the time, hahaha!). As soon as I gave him a whirl, I was hooked. I'd happily shell out full price for a new one if I ever had to, but Vixen Creations' awesome lifetime warranty means the risk of me having to do so is minimal.

Sweet mother of all that is good and slippery, I don't think Aldan is ever going to lose my love! He continues to be my top performer, and I think his head is magnetically drawn to my G-spot. Which I suppose I should worry about (who knew G-spots could be magnetic?), but I enjoy it too much to care. Orgasms aplenty. 'Nuff said.

Despite the sticky feeling increasing somewhat (which becomes irrelevant with a good lube) and a very fine indentation on the head, Aldan's held up beautifully these long months. Really the only flaw that bugs me is the storage requirements - it's not much of a hassle, but it's the one imperfection I'd ask Vixen Creations to work on. VixSkin is otherwise a winning material.
