There’s nothing worse than opening up your shiny new dildo, pulling out your reliable harness and, oh no, your new friend and your old steady don’t fit together. Talk about drama. That’s right: the age old problem of getting the right size O-ring for a given dildo. It’s why having Sportsheets’ handy packet of four O-rings is a great idea.
The tricky factor in choosing an O-ring size for your dildo is that the decision doesn’t have to do just with the dildo itself. It depends on what material your dildo is: will this be one that an O-ring can slide onto or will it be one with large veins? It has to do with your harness: does your harness have snaps that have to be forced through the O-ring after putting in the dildo or are the straps incredibly thin and not a problem? In my experience, with a strap-on whose snaps are a little pesky, it pays to have an O-ring a quarter of an inch bigger than the dildo itself. But, really, you can never be sure of the perfect O-ring size until you’ve unwrapped your new dildo. And, since I have two differently sized dildos and expect to someday have others, it’s perfect to find a packet with the four o-ring sizes which fit my current dildos and are likely to fit my future dildos as well. These O-rings are made of sturdy rubber. I prefer this to metal O-rings since it’s a lot more flexible and allows for easier placement and removal of the dildos. I also am less concerned with how it will harm my dildos: since this is a softer material than metal, I fear damaging the dildos less. Although I have yet to feel the need, washing the O-rings is easy: soap and water will do the trick. This content is the opinion of the submitting contributor
