Wave sex toy review

The Wave is an awesome dildo and one of the best g-spot massagers I have ever used. If only it had a base.
Published:
Pros
A beautiful toy in both form and function, makes g-spot massage easy and fluid
Cons
Everything about this toy would be better if it had a flared base.

The Wave came to me packed with a small card explaining that it was an “interactive sculpture” (wink-wink-nudge-nudge) handmade in costal Maine. When I unwrapped it, I held it appraisingly in my right hand and looked it up and down. It was quite pretty, and I was willing to agree that it indeed looked like a sculpture.

The blue and white silicone swirls wound up and down the crest of this wave. It was eerily almost symmetric – perfectly imperfect, a little piece of silicone art. The piece is heavy, the silicone quite thick at the base of the wave. The silicone squished beneath my fingers; it is much more pillowy and soft than the silicone used in toys by Tantus, Jollies, or Fun Factory. It was powerfully alluring and powerfully seductive. I, of course, tried it out immediately.

I placed the Wave on a towel near the edge of my (low) bed. I applied some of my lubricant onto the Wave (it is a formidable toy when you consider the girth to which it tapers; lube is a good idea) and climbed on top. It felt good – amazing in fact.

I used the bounciness of the bed to hop up and down on it, fluttering my eyelids as the tip of the wave massaged my g-spot and the sensitive skin of my inner labia stretched and rubbed against the wet, smooth, and soft base of the toy. But then, as quickly as I got to such a wonderful place, the toy slipped sideways and popped out.

Cursing, I fixed it, only to have the same thing happen moments later. I desperately wished that the toy had a flared base for more stability or to tie in place with a harness or a length of rope. Alas, the sad truth is that there is no flared base, just a gradual taper.  Perhaps it would be more stable placed on a low table instead of a mattress.

So I took the Wave and lay out on my bed, maneuvering it to make it pump against my g-spot as I lay back and enjoyed the sensations. It was heavenly, again, and I enjoyed what it did for me very much. However, I couldn’t help but wish again that it had a flared base. It was just really hard to hold onto and maneuver when things got slick.

To compound things further, I struggled to get the type strokes done that make me squirt because the squishiness of the material coupled with my lack of motor coordination due to difficulties gripping meant I kept missing my aim. That said, it was only a matter of minutes before my toes curled again and again as the towel beneath me saturated.

The Wave is a powerfully effective g-spot toy.
Follow-up commentary
Ah the wave. Source of many a squirting orgasm this past year - and also many a hand cramp. I mentioned my issues with the lack of flared base/handle on this toy in my original review, and that most certainly has not changed. I think this toy would be vastly improved with even just a little bit of a lip making a flared base. Not only would it make wielding easier, it would open to door to *cough* anal explorations with the wave.

More astute sex toy shoppers may observe that this dildo looks similar to the Tentacle, also by Whipspider Rubberworks. In fact, the Wave appears to be made from the same base mold as the tentacle - the tentacle of course having the tentacle accents in addition to the awesome shape. I have road-tested the Tentacle and the Wave, and I can confidently say I felt absolutely no difference between the two.

Interestingly, I have shared the wave with a few eager girlfriends and have found that is does NOT have universal appeal. I have a friend that out-and-out HATES the sensations she gets with the wave, saying it's just annoying and not at all stimulating. If I had to guess, I'd say one could predict whether or one they would like the wave by considering how they like thir g-spot stimulated. I love direct and concentrated pressure, but the friend that hated the wave says she prefers something a bit more dispersed (with a wider area to massage the g-spot). So, as I like to say - your mileage may vary, but you should be able to tell if the wave is for you or not by keeping that in mind.

Reminds me so much of the Tentacle, but without the awesome texture. It IS far less creepy, though!

Actually it is the exact same shape as the tentacle, minus the texture of course. I have a girlfriend with the tentacle so I have actually done a trial comparison - and i gotta say, they're no different to me. I think they're such intense g spotters that the texture is just lost in the shuffle

I like the color and the shape looks nice, but I agree, it looks like it needs an actual base.
