Ride the Wave: Video Review
The Wave by Whipspider Rubberworks is an excellent G-spotting dildo. It's made of pure silicone and has a moderate girth. It's probably not the best choice for people who like lots of texture and it will not work with a harness, but in all other respects it performs admirably.Published: December 15, 2009
Pros:
Firm silicone, fantastic G-spot curve, beautiful color.
Cons:
Lack of flared base, difficult to hold on to when lubed up, no texture.
Whipspider Rubberworks produces some beautiful silicone dildos, and the Wave is no exception. At 6.5 inches long (roughly 5.5 of which is insertable) and 1.25 inches in diameter (measured around the middle: the base is wider), its tapered shape allows you to control exactly how much girth you want to take. The Wave itself has a very pronounced curve and it coils a bit as you reach the tip (making the entire dildo slightly asymmetrical, which to me adds to its charm). The Wave is a beautiful, swirly, iridescent blue. Whipspider silicone is really firm. It's not quite as firm as Ophoria silicone, but it's much firmer than Fun Factory or Tantus silicone. I was surprised when I first took the Wave out of its packaging (a ziploc bag with Whipspider Rubberworks' card) because of the weight of the thing; insubstantial is not a word that comes to mind to describe it.
EF only sells the version of the Wave without the insertable bullet option, so on the bottom of the Wave the hole has been plugged with black silicone which has been imprinted with the Whipspider Rubberworks logo (somewhat unsurprisingly, it's arachnoid). Below this is some black silicone with “Whipspider Rubberworks” written in it: as you can see from the video, the net effect is of some vaguely cycloptic smiley face.
The firmness of the silicone combined with the curve make the Wave a very good G-spotter. There is some give to the silicone, but it's stiff enough to provide a lot of pressure when used internally. It's not going to be Pure Wand intensity pressure, but as far as silicone goes it's very good. (I recently had a pretty poor experience with a silicone g-spot toy , but the Wave was much more satisfactory.) I did not find the silicone flexible enough to make contact with both my G-spot and my clit simultaneously. You're much better off using a clitoral vibrator in conjunction with this toy.
There are a couple of drawbacks to the Wave that I can find, most egregious of which is the lack of base. I like to use my chest harness to strap dildos down to pillows so they're ride-able, and the Wave is not accommodating in that respect. It isn't harness compatible at all. The lack of base also makes the Wave kind of difficult to grip during use, especially when the toy is all lubed up: I find myself constantly changing my hand position because I never quite feel like I've got a hold of it. The only other problem I have with it is that there's no texture at all. It's perfectly smooth. But for some people that could be a plus, since it all boils down to personal preference.
As far as anal use goes, I think this toy calls for some user discretion. There's no flared base (in fact, there's no base at all, as mentioned above), but the bottom of the toy is very thick. I feel like the severity of the curve and the thickness of the bottom could prevent the toy from getting lost in the anal cavity, but only if you were very careful. Experienced anal players might attempt this, but I would strongly caution beginners against it.
Since the Wave is made of pure silicone, care is fairly simple. The Wave can be sterilized in boiling water, in the top rack of the dishwasher (no soap!), or with a rub-down of 10% bleach solution. If you're not looking to share, toy cleaner or soap and water work just fine.
The bottom line: the Wave is an excellent investment if you like smooth, high-quality g-spot toys that don't require a harness. It's a good compromise between vanilla play and a full blown tentacle fantasy.

Thank you for viewing Wave – dildo review page!

good review
I don't think I could do it. Just looks too much like an octopus arm. But good review.
I love how this one looks
.
Good review!
Very nice review, thanks!
Nice job!
Wonderful review! I loooove your bookshelf.
What Tantus toys have you tried? I have tried one which was quite firm and the other was the opposite. I had thought most of them were very firm, not like FF at all.
My experience has been that Tantus silicone is firmer than FF silicone, but sometimes can be floppy. I have the Faerie, the Goddess, and the G-force. The G-force wasn't very firm at all.
