Use

Cute as a button and surprisingly powerful, Baby Bug is my first vibrator and my new favorite toy. With eight vibration speeds, three program cycles and a waterproof design, the possibilities with this toy are pretty much endless. Being my first vibrator, I started out slow. I have a very sensitive clit, which is one of the reasons I put off using a vibrator for a while. Starting the vibrator on a lower setting (third speed), I was amazed by the feeling of this toy on my clit/mound. This alone was nearly enough to get me off, but I had to experiment with different speeds and different positions. Every part of my vulva melted at the touch of the Baby Bug. The soft yet firm feel of the silicone bug felt best with a little bit of lube.

I usually enjoy toys with more girth for insertion, but with the strong vibrations this little guy was plenty for me! This toy doesn't have a flared base, so anal insertion is a big no-no. However, this vibrator thoroughly pleased my anal obsession. I love to use this toy in my vagina with the strongest vibrations, stimulating EVERYTHING in the area. It's also really fun to poke around my perenium during foreplay.

The final feature of this toy really makes it special. A waterproof design allows for a lot of fun in the tub or shower. So much so that this toy practically lives in my bathroom, accompanying me whenever I get wet.

Material / Texture

Baby Bug is made of 100% silicone, one of the safest toy materials out there. This means zero toxicity and ease of cleaning. Unlike other non-toxic materials, silicone is flexible and soft, yet firm enough to provide good pressure. Silicone is completely scent- and taste-free, and has a little bit of drag so it's best used with water based lube (never silicone!). Perfect for beginners, this high-quality material is chemically stable, hypoallergenic and very forgiving on your body as opposed to other non-toxic materials like glass and ceramic. The battery base appears to be made of hard plastic with a rubber o-ring making it waterproof.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all

Design / Shape / Size

Baby Bug is designed to provide variety and a lot of power in a compact, cute shape. This toy is just 5" long (4" insertable length), but don't underestimate the pleasure this little guy can provide! The molded silicone shape is reminiscent of a glow-worm (one of the reasons I got the pink; green looked too much like my childhood toys) with a smiling, tapered head followed by three 1 1/4" bulbous body sections. I'm more accustomed to larger toys, but being my first vibrator the size was just right for me. Every part of this silicone toy is smooth and stimulating. The plastic base is easily removed to change the batteries, although I though the buttons should have been placed here rather than on the silicone shaft (reaching them can be tricky during play). Overall, I am very pleased and impressed with the quality and care in constructing this toy. Fun Factory has a new fan!

The noise level seemed very low (I have nothing to compare this to) as I felt comfortable using it in my closed bedroom without anyone else knowing. I use it this way in the shower too, but I'm more careful not to let the toy hit the tub or wall, giving away my secret! Otherwise, this is probably the most discreet toy I own. It easily fits into my jacket pocket, purse or backpack without being obvious. It's the only toy a take traveling not only because it's small, but it's also guaranteed to get me of and do so quickly!

Functions / Performance / Controls

I'm new to vibrating toys, so it took me a minute to get used to the controls. Baby Bug has a simple, two-button system located just above the plastic base of the toy. The buttons (labeled + and -) are molded into the silicone, which can make them a little tricky to find during play, especially when fully inserted. To turn the vibrator on, hold down the + button for a couple seconds. This is the lowest steady vibration, which hardly moves at all. Continue to press the + button and the steady vibrations will get stronger with a total of 8 different vibration levels. The highest vibration is quite strong, and may be too much for clitoral stimulation. But this is what makes this toy so nice for beginners; there's a lot of variety and the ability to "work up" to different vibration levels.

When the vibrator has reached "level 8," you can hold down the + button for a few seconds and the first vibration program will begin. The first program is a slow, rolling wave that is incredible for foreplay. Press the + button again and the second vibration program starts which is a faster variation between high and low. Press the + button a third time and the last vibration program will begin, which is a high-low pattern at the speed of club music (a little too intense for me). Continually pushing the + button will cycle through the programs, while pressing the - button will bring you back to "level 8" steady vibration. Continue to press the - button to decrease the vibrational power and eventually turn the toy off.

I know this is my first vibrator, but the variety of vibrations and programs kept me busy for hours! The vibrations are deep and run the length of the toy, making the worm's head a very valuable asset. It seems to use up the two AAA batteries slowly, as I haven't needed to replace them after several weeks of daily use. It is also made waterproof by the addition of a rubber o-ring on the battery compartment. Baby Bug is a dream in the shower or tub, but must be thoroughly dried and the battery compartment aired out after water play.
    • Easy to use
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Powerful

Care and Maintenance

Silicone is notoriously easy to care for, so I demanded this feature in my first vibrator. This non-porous toy is less susceptible to harboring bacteria, although sterilization by boiling is not an option for this electric toy. I wash my Baby Bug in hot, soapy water before and after use giving special attention to the seam of the battery compartment, which can be hard to clean without a brush. After air drying, this vibrator sleeps in a thin cloth bag in my nightstand drawer. Silicone toys should be used with water based lubricants, and never with silicone lube as this can permanently damage the toy. With regular care, this vibrator will hold up to much abuse!

Packaging

Baby Bug comes in the coolest package I have ever seen! It sits in clear plastic inside a window-frame box that looks stunning to the happy recipient. The back of the box has two magnetic flaps that reveal information about the toy with simple, yet attractive graphics. It's too bad this box isn't the best for storage, as it can be kind of complicated to pull out in the heat of the moment. I prefer a thin cotton draw-string bag in my nightstand over the box.
Follow-up commentary
Baby Bug is my first vibrator, but the quality of this toy could easily make it my last. Perfectly designed, this bug easily wiggles his way into nearly every foreplay session.

  • Baby Bug in green: if one color option hasn't been in stock for months - does this mean it's been discontinued?
    • I absolutely love how the Baby Bug looks and it seems to be a great vibrator.
The green color option seems much more appealing to me than the red one, but it hasn't been in stock for at least a couple of months (maybe longer, but I wasn't an EF customer back then and I wouldn't know). The red Baby Bug, on the other hand, has been going in and out of stock during this time.
Does this mean that the green one will never be in stock again? :(

  • Has anyone encountered this problem?
    • I have purchased a few "fun factory" items in the past. One thing I have ALWAYS had trouble with is the battery ends. They will either become loose where I have to literally hold that end so that it can stay on or it will not click in- as if though I over "clicked" it closed when I really havent. Is this something that others have had trouble with?
    • Whilst I dont have the baby bug I do have other fun factory toys and understand the issue you are describing - although I havent had it with a fun factory toy , but quite a few others.

I've stuck blu tack into the screw/click thread before which has helped to keep the cap in place solidly. Otherwise I'd contact fun factory - aren't their toys covered by warranty??
