Bug Me, Baby!

This little bug is cute and functional! He will make you smile, and then bring you loads of pleasure. He's a great size, somewhere between a small bullet and a large traditional vibrator. If you don't mind your toys staring back at you, give him a go!

Use

This has got to be, without a doubt, one of the cutest mini vibrators I've ever seen. It's no secret I'm a fan of Fun Factory and all of their wonderful quirky items. This little guy is no exception. It's another vibrator that has a face, so if that bothers you, then you won't like this toy.

The Baby Bug is primarily designed for external stimulation, mainly clitoral, but it could be used on any erogenous zones. It allows for broad or pinpoint stimulation. If you enjoy shallow vaginal stimulation, this will work for that as well. If you have a shallow G-spot, you might be able to reach it with the Baby Bug. If you have a G-spot that sits deeper, you may not. Even if you can't reach your G-spot with this little guy, it will still feel great for vaginal stimulation. There is more texture here than on the other worm/caterpillar/bug vibrators that Fun Factory makes, so if you intend to insert it be sure you enjoy texture.

You should not use the Baby Bug anally, as it lacks a flared base. It could travel too far inside of you, leaving you with no way to retrieve it.

Because it fits nicely in the palm of your hand, the Baby Bug works for massage as well. Try it on your partner's back or thighs for a sensual massage with the extra fun of vibration. You can roll it over the area you're massaging, or use the tip for a more localized pressure.

As long as the cute face doesn't creep you out, this isn't a bad toy for a first toy purchase. It's high quality and works well. It can be used in a variety of ways, and it's certainly not threatening.

The Baby Bug can be used in the shower or bath. It is completely waterproof and, after multiple times being submerged, still works with no issues.

Material / Texture

The Baby Bug is made of silicone and hard plastic. The insertable, brightly colored portion of the toy is made of silicone, which rates a 10 out of 10 on the Eden Safety Scale. It's non-porous, hypoallergenic, phthalates free and latex free. If you're familiar with the Fun Factory G4 line, you know that the silicone used is quite rough, and I was expecting the silicone on this vibrator to be similar. It isn't. The silicone on the Baby Bug is smooth and velvety, with a very minor amount of soft texture. There is a nice amount of squish to the Baby Bug, with a core that is more firm. This allows for a great deal of comfort, no matter how you use this toy. It does collect a bit of dust and lint, so be sure you give it a quick wash before you use it, to make sure it's clean.

The legs of the bug provide a bit of texture, and the body of the bug provides some texture. The indents for the body of the bug are deeper than the indents in the Paul Fun factory toys. There is a more distinct pop to each segment of the bug's body when you insert the toy. You can also feel those segments when you use the toy externally, which is a good thing. You can slide the bug's body up and down your clitoral area to stimulate yourself that way, or turn the bug and use his head for pinpoint stimulation.

The cap that screws on to secure the batteries is made of plastic, which rates an 8 out of 10 on the Eden Safety Scale. It is non-porous and phthalate free. The hard plastic used in the Baby Bug is fairly smooth, and quite firm. It has no bend or flex.

Design / Shape / Size

Ok, so in my review of the Paul, I mentioned that you have to not mind that your toy has a face. The Baby Bug takes it a few steps more. Instead of just little eyes and the hint of a mouth like the Paul, the Baby Bug is a full-on cartoon bug. He has eyes, eyebrow arches, a mouth, a nose and several sets of millipede-like feet. He is quite a detailed little bug. You have to not mind that he fully resembles a bug to enjoy this little guy!

The size is somewhere larger than a bullet and smaller than a traditional vibrator. The total length is 5", with about 4" of that as insertable length. The diameter of the Baby Bug is right around 1 1/4". It is a great in between size, and covers a lot of bases. Even though most people aren't going to think "sex toy" when they see a small orange bug, it wouldn't be too hard to figure out this a vibrator if someone checked it out. That being said, it's fairly easy to hide as it sits nicely in your palm. I walked through the house with my book and Baby Bug in hand, got a drink and headed to the bathtub for a long soak, and no one even noticed that I was holding him.

If you intend to travel with the Baby Bug, please remove the batteries. There is no travel lock, and you wouldn't want this little guy turning on while in your luggage.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Baby Bug is controlled by two buttons, a plus and a minus. They are easy to press, but don't tend to be pressed accidentally.

To turn the toy on, you press the plus button. Subsequent pressing of the plus button, or holding it down, will increase the intensity of the vibrations. There are 8 solid settings in all. Once the intensity is at the highest setting, you can press and hold the button for two seconds to switch to vibration patterns. There are three patterns, each a pulse. The pulse is the same pattern for each of the settings, but increasing in speed. Pressing the plus button while you're in the patterns mode moves you through them. TO go back to steady vibrations, you press the minus button. To turn the Baby Bug off, you press and hold the minus button. I find the controls easy to use, and fairly intuitive.

It's worth noting that if you tend to change the patterns or intensity of your toys while you're using them, you may be annoyed by the button placement on this toy. If you want access to the buttons, you're losing about an inch of insertable length. You will need to slide the toy out, or not insert it fully to be able to change things up often.

The Baby Bug takes 2 AAA batteries, which are inserted in the base of the toy. I've seen other reviews mention that water got into the battery compartment, but mine seals very tightly, with no water getting anywhere inside the vibrator. It's true there is a small gap between the cap and the main portion of the vibrator, which collects fluid occasionally, but beyond that gap is a tight seal. After several baths where the Baby Bug was submerged, I've had no issues.

The vibrations are focused mainly on the nose of the bug, and the first and second bulges, which works well for both clitoral and vaginal stimulation. Placing the bug along your clitoral area and moving it gently up and down, or rolling it side to side, works well to focus the vibrations on both your clitoris and vaginal opening. The Baby Bug is a fairly quiet toy, I can't hear it over the covers, and there is no way you could hear it through a door. If there was a 3.5 vrooms I would choose it, but I'll give this one 3 vrooms. It is really midway between 3 and 4. It has a deep rumble to it, and doesn't have any of the buzz that you get with a cheap bullet vibe. Once of the things I love about Fun Factory toys is the deep rumble they come with. I was worried that a smaller vibrator from them wouldn't deliver the rumble, but this one sure does!

Care and Maintenance

The Baby Bug is easy to care for. The silicone and plastic portions can be washed with soap and water or your favorite toy cleaner, as long as you're sure the battery compartment is tightly closed before you submerge it. You can sterilize it by wiping it with a 10% bleach solution. This vibrator cannot be sterilized by running it through the dishwasher, as it will damage the motor.

Avoid using silicone lubes with this toy, as they will react with the silicone of the vibrator and cause damage. Please stick to using water based lubes. Likewise, you will want to avoid storing the Baby Bug where it will come in contact with other silicone toys to avoid damage.

Packaging

The packaging for the Baby Bug is fun and functional. There is an outer sleeve that slides off, to reveal the inner box. The box top lifts up, revealing the Baby Bug resting on a cardboard from. There are cardboard shaped that keep it in place, and keep it from shifting around. There is an included pamphlet giving you a bit of detail about caring for the toy, and the functions it provides.

I'd consider it giftable, as it's fairly tasteful. You just have to be gifting it to someone who is alright with a big shaped toy in the first place, and want to see a full size color picture of that bug shaped toy on the outside of the box!

I do store this toy in the box it came in, and it works very well. It takes up more space than the toy itself, but I don't mind.

Experience

This handsome bug guy is another great addition to my collection. I'm an admitted Fun Factory lover, and each toy I get from them makes me love them more.

This is a petite toy that packs a punch, and gives you everything you need in a small package. Because of his small size, you could easily use the Baby Bug for clitoral stimulation while you engage in intercourse with your partner. He wouldn't get in the way, and would definitely push you over the edge.

I have never pulled this toy out and been disappointed. Whether I'm in the tub of curled up in bed, he delivers tons of fun!
Follow-up commentary
This is my favorite toy to tuck in my purse or overnight bag. It has held up well, and shows no signs of wear. No issues have come up. I have no complaints!
