Superbe, Not Superb...

Hard plastics are never a bright idea for a clit stimulator in my opinion, but it is seemingly what the women behind Natural Contours thinks works! I called the sound output in another vibrator that of a “jet engine”, but I was wrong. This is the loudest toy in my collection; it even wins out over the Hitachi, which is a feat considering the size of this toy!

Use

While it may claim to be designed to fit a woman’s natural curves, it does not fit my curves at all! The best use I have found for this one is “paperweight”. Given its shape though, I imagine that if it fits your body better than it fits mine, this would be an amazing, nearly hands-free, clit vibrator. Again, due to shape, I would consider this a female only toy. We have attempted making this toy more enjoyable many times over the several years we have owned it and most recently we tried adding it during intercourse. The shape lends itself very well to that use as it forms neatly to the body. Even if it doesn’t actually hit anything it should, it lies between two bodies very easily. That is, of course, if you can get over the amount of noise coming off this little thing!

Material / Texture

Information on what this is actually made of is hard to come by! The small pamphlet that came with it only has the website address listed for the information, but for the Superbe, it doesn’t actually list the material. I would assume since it is a hard plastic that it is also ABS plastic just like other products offered by this company. As far as texture, there is none...it is simply a smooth case.

This toy has been in the drawer so long that if it did have a smell, it has long since vanished. I don’t find that even new hard plastic toys have much of a scent to them though.

Design / Shape / Size

I really like the idea behind the design, but as a “larger than average” woman, I don’t find that it is shaped to fit my curves as the product claims to do. Also, the vibrating end is just a little too small for my liking. This could be due to the entire shape though and it may work just fine for a smaller person. On lower settings though, the shape does extremely well at holding the vibrations away from the “handle” end where the controls are located. Most hard plastics aren’t able to do that well.

The Superbe is not shaped like any “normal” sex toy, so I would consider this one discreet enough to accidentally leave out as long as your boss isn’t dropping by! It is sort of triangle shaped, so without batteries, it might pass as some sort of weird artwork. Turned on it sounds like every other vibrating toy though so it is a dead giveaway! If you miss it in picking up, casually kick it under the couch or something.

In the matter of the size of this toy it is small. It is just under 5 inches long, under 3 inches wide at the widest point and a mere 1 and a half inches tall!

Functions / Performance / Controls

This little clit vibe does pack a decent punch in the vibration department, but the overall shape makes it awkward to use for me. All the vibrations are located in the rounded (almost pointed) end and on low speeds they stay there. On medium and high-speeds though, the vibrations creep farther up the handle until the whole thing is shaking. The controls for turning on and changing the vibrating speeds is a slider with set intervals at off, high, medium, and low. The control is hard to use one handed, as it is very sensitive to touch and can easily be set to the “wrong” speed. I very nearly forgot there was a medium setting because it is so easy to just fly right by it when changing speeds!

While the shape is not something I enjoy, the amount of noise this toy puts out is what really kills it for me. I don’t know if it is my product or the whole line, but the claims that this has a “low noise motor” are shattered for me! Under the covers, on high and with the door shut I can still here this thing! That was with the topside where the controls are pointing up. My toy gets 5 times louder if it is turned upside down or pressed against a body. I have actually had to swap to another toy because the noise from this was so distracting. The Hitachi Magic Wand is quieter than this toy! Also, this toy is NOT waterproof, making using and cleaning an issue.
    • Not discreet at all

Care and Maintenance

I store this one in the packaging it came in, but tossed in the bottom of a drawer would work just fine too. Just keep your toys that don’t play well with hard plastics away from it.

Cleaning is the big issue in maintenance for this toy since it isn’t waterproof; don't run water on it! The package directions say to use a damp cloth and (mild) soap. Pay special attention to the seam in the plastic that runs horizontally around the whole toy as “crud” can build up there if you aren’t careful. A toy-cleaning wipe would probably be ideal for cleaning this toy since it can’t go under running water like other toys.
    • Hard to clean

Packaging

This comes in a sturdy cardboard box with an opaque plastic sleeve. The sleeve has a side view of the toy on the sides and you can see the product through the front of the sleeve. Nothing really screams “I’m a sex toy!” in the packaging. It could make a nice gift tucked into a gift basket, depending on how “open” the crowd is.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Good for storage
    • Would make a nice gift
Follow-up commentary
Still one of the loudest items I own...it gets brought out more for laughs and to show off just how noisy it really is! (It never gets "used".)

This is one weird vibe! Lol. Thanks for the review. I read that it was hands free. Howon earth is that? To be only an inch I don't understand this thing well. Sorry it didn't work out so great for you. Is it a strap on or something or by hands free do you mean you lie still and set this thing on your lady bits? Lol. This one has be stumped! Lol

    Good review, thanks!

Kendra...I don't see how it could be hands free unless you stuffed it in your panties and held extremely still! It is shaped like "lady bits" as far as the V-shape ans is curved inward at the "pointy" end. But as I mentioned, it is very loud...I can't see leaving the house with this stuffed down my pants, lol.

Miss Nessa...After a slew of "bad" item reviews, I think it may just come down to "I'm too picky" when it comes to what I like, lol. I'll keep trying new things out though!

These vibes have been around since the mid 90s, and they don't appear to have changed at all. You would think the company would get with the times and update the designs with better materials, quieter motors, more settings, etc. Great review.

Thanks for the review. I've been on the search for the "perfect vibe for me" as well, and just can't find one so thanks for sharing your input. Sexinfo101.com rated this a 8.5/10, but I always come to personal reviews before making my decisions.

I'm shallow enough that I'd be tempted to buy simply based on the color, but jet engines in the bedroom I do not need.

Thanks for the review. I am shocked something that small is louder than a hitachi! Definitely not a good sign
