101 Nights of Grrreat Romance review

Bad at romance ideas? Start by getting this book. I was so excited about getting this. The idea seems so perfect and cute:

“EVERY WEEK you'll pick a page and tear it from the book. EVERY WEEK you'll read your secret recipe for romance. EVERY WEEK you'll startle, amaze, and delight your lover with some highly romantic surprises. And EVERY WEEK your lover will do the same for you.”

Inside this book are 101 “romantic seductions”. Some are more romantic or seduction filled than others, some are just nice things to do for your lover, and other just plan suck, which I'll get to later. Half are for “her eyes only” and half are for "his eyes only". They are sealed so they are secret from the other partner.

The outsides have a super easy coding system so you can pick ones that fit with what you want to do. For example the more dollar signs it has, the more money that is needed. Some don't require any money at all which is nice, BUT some require more than a hundred dollars. I don't know about you but I don't have an extra hundred bucks to just use on something like this on a whim.

Some of the “romance seductions” require transportation which is indicated by a car symbol. Some involve a meal which is indicated by a fork and knife. Some are even season-specific. But the idea is for you and your partner to each pick one that sounds good for that week and then you have to read what is inside and do it for each other by the end of the week!

Now not all of these are great ideas. Some are downright stupid. The first few I read really disappointed me. For example one was simply making a CD of music that will make your partner feel young again. Actually quite a few of them had the aim of making you and your partner feel young again. Well this was a problem for me being that I am already 21. If I were to make a CD to make my partner feel young again it would have to have Sesame Street on it and there is nothing romantic about that.

However, some ideas are soooo romantic. One I peeked at was for the guy to do for the girl. It involved running through the rain and then having a picnic inside in front of a fireplace. What girl would not want that? Another was for the girl to do for the guy. She is supposed to leave a heart trail of Hershey kisses with a note saying “Want some with zero calories…come find me!” I thought that was really cute!

Some of these seem like they need more than a week to do though. If I were doing this I would probably have to plan a bit more than just tearing randomly out of this book. And like I said, some are great and some are not so great so it would suck if the one you did for your partner was fabulous and the one done for you was disappointing. I won't give away too many of them but trust me, some are awesome and I can't wait to do them!

In each secret romance envelope there is also a special kiss to try… most of these have been really LAME ideas. Some of them so lame that they are quite laughable. For instance the “ring around the collar.” Make a collar of kisses around his neck… I would feel stupid doing that. In addition to the weekly new kiss there is a cut out “passion coupon”. The majority of these are great! “The recipient of this coupon gets a quickie wherever they choose!” And just when you thought that was it, there are also 101 “Pearls of Wisdom” from the author. These are little tips to keep your romance alive.

So all in all I give this book four stars because it does have some GREAT ideas. It needs some improvement though, mostly on the knowledge of the author. I think a guy should help write a revised version. But if you like this book there are others in the series you can get!
