The French Maid

Book
Review by: Dame Demi

The French Maid is a book of fantasy scenarios, and it has strong aspects working for and against it. The book is well written and easy and entertaining to read. Dialogue in each fantasy is printed in italics, and at the end of each fantasy is a list of the hottest “catch phrases” from the scenario. The book is nicely laid out.

One positive aspect of the book is that it does not require any props. Well, this is a MOSTLY positive aspect; I, for example, happen to LOVE props and costumes and have a closet full of them. Because of the lack of props and costumes, the fantasies rely mainly on storytelling, an aspect of the book that fell a little flat for me. Instead of assuming the role in a fantasy and acting it out, you basically ask your man “what if” and narrate a scenario.

There are 21 scenarios, and they are quite varied and some of them are surprisingly taboo, such as “The Naughty Babysitter,” “The Schoolgirl Ambush,” and “The Peeping Toms.” Many feature explicit dirty talk. There are also some more unusual fantasies, like “The Mail-Order Bride” (one of my personal favorite erotic subjects!) and “The Hypnotist.”

My favorite fantasy has to be “The Very Personal Demo,” where a lucky customer is treated to a demonstration of the products in a sex shop. Given my love of sex toys and large collection, this one was a natural for me. However, I took the fantasy a few steps further than the book suggested by acting it out—putting on a nice “sales girl” outfit and pulling out my toys and turning our bedrooms into a virtual sex emporium! I greeted my husband as a customer, and let him browse through the toys, selecting the ones HE wanted to use. I did use much of the dialogue suggestions in the book, and we ended up having a rollicking good time!

The French Maid

Rating by reviewer:
  • Pros

Good selection of fantasy scenarios, no props required

  • Cons

Based more on narrative than role-play

  • Summary

The French Maid is a good choice for the more timid or under-equipped, who want to seduce their men through suggestive narratives; however, it also offers some great suggestions for fantasy scenarios for the more adventurous and prepared!
