Luscious for the tummy & velvet for the skin

A straight A+ product that is worth every penny and can be used by the whole family. The balm smells delightful, can be used on your whole body, is absorbed by the skin quickly and a little really does go a long way!
Published: October 16, 2008
Pros:
Leaves skin soft, supple and nourished even after only one application.
Cons:
A small scooping spoon to use to take the product out of the jar would be handy.

extremely useful review
Sensuous Beauty Blooming Belly Balm & Healing Salve is everything and more than the title of the product suggests. The main ingredient that compelled me to try this balm was ylang ylang, but the entire composition of the balm is truly extraordinary.

The jar, which is made out of solid glass (I know it's solid as my youngest daughter dropped it and the jar didn't break or even splinter!) opens easily and the smell of the balm is soothing and calming.

Though the balm is a solid mass in the jar, as soon as you touch it, the balm becomes soft and easy to use. It doesn't turn into a liquid mess, rather it glides and spreads out evenly on the area of skin you are applying it to.

As part of the main product title is belly balm, I tried it on my belly first. I didn't need a lot of it and massaging it into my skin didn't require much time or effort. It also doesn't leave a sticky residue so you can put your clothes on fairly quickly afterwards.

Since the texture of the balm was so soft and it smells so great, I began using it for other parts of my body, including my elbows that were dried and rough. Even after only one application my skin felt softer and smoother with my skin being far less dry.

I figured if it is so good for my skin, why not try it out on my hair! I have frizzy hair and no product I have used so far leaves it looking shiny. So after I washed my hair and dried it, I applied a tiny amount to my hand, rubbed my palms together so I could smooth out the whole product evenly on them and then slid my hand over my hair from about 2 inches from the roots all the way to the ends. The result was a healthy looking shine without it being oily.

My oldest daughter is a real tomboy and she regularly cuts or scrapes herself while outside playing. She dislikes the regular antiseptic cream that I use, as it stings. Therefore, last time she hurt herself I gently applied some of the balm and, low and behold, no sobs or screams! The scratches in her arm also seemed to heal more quickly and she has absolutely no scarring (even though she does have a tendency to pick at the scabs).

I have a girlfriend who was pregnant use it and she too is crazy about this product. Her otherwise so dried and flaky skin on her tummy is now far more supple and her skin looks healthier. She gave birth last week and I gave her my jar to use on the delicate skin of her newborn daughter.

That's a nice list of moisturizing ingredients: olive oil, vitamin E and cocoa butter. Sounds like that small amount is still worth it. Thanks for the review!

  • An odd question....
    • I have been looking at this for a while and wondering how well it works on scars.

      Has anyone tried this out?
    • I haven't tried it yet myself but I have read some reviews on it. If my general knowledge is correct (and it very well might not be), stretch marks are a kind of scar, and the reviews seem to indicate that it might fade existing ones some, but is more to prevent new ones from forming.
