A smooth and sexy glide, but not a smart one

For those women who have no problems with the ingredients, it is absolutely fabulous and worth the purchase. For those like me who cannot or simply choose not to use products with glycerin, petro-chemicals and parabens, it's best to skip it and look elsewhere, though saying it certainly feels like a shame.

Use

There's a reason this lubricant is made widely available at doctor's offices and clinics. It is a great everyday product that will meet all your vaginal penetration needs. Because it is water based, it's compatible with all your toys and is completely condom safe. The only drawback to ID Glide is its ingredient list. Glycerin, parabens, petro-chemicals- they're all inside this lube. Though most women can and will successfully use and very much enjoy this product, sensitive consumers or those prone to UTI's or yeast infections will want to pass.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

Thick like a hair gel, for the most part ID Glide will stay put. Putting it in your hands and on your skin will feel just like aloe vera gel, feeling only slightly sticky as it dries. Once completely dry, you will have had no idea it was ever there.

    • Thick

Taste / Aroma

ID Glide has no discernible scent or flavor, just a slight sweetness due to the glycerin. Because it lacks a pleasing flavor, I would not recommend it for use in oral sex.

Performance

In many clinics and medical offices, you will find foil packets of this lube, usually a .2 ounce size. In this size, you can get approximately two to three sex sessions, meaning an 8 ounce bottle will last you for 40 days AND 40 nights of great sex. In an average sex session, you likely will not need to reapply because your own natural lubricants will keep the ID glide wet and slick. For a more extended session or one where you may switch positions frequently, reapplication may be needed. When it's time to clean up, a damp towel will do the trick and no soap is necessary unless you are potentially sensitive to glycerin, in which case it's recommended to clean up thoroughly with warm soapy water.
    • Absorbs into skin nicely

Packaging

The packaging for ID glide isn't particularly discreet, but it may blend in well amongst men's bath products due to the blue flip-top capped bottle.
    • Easy to use / dispense
    • Minimal
    • Travel friendly

Personal comments

Were this product free of glycerin, parabens and petro-chemicals, it would absolutely be my number one lubricant for vaginal intercourse. Its thickness, feel, longevity, ease of use and even easier clean up is an absolute dream. I simply have not felt anything better, but due to my sensitivity to the ingredients I mentioned above, this dream quickly becomes a nightmare.

Experience

After weeks of using Pink Silicone based lubricant, both my boyfriend and I noticed the difference immediately. This thick gel felt cool, wet and wonderful. Entry was easy for both of us and throughout some very good sex, it stayed just as good as when it was first applied. When we ran out we found ourselves searching the dresser drawer for more.

Great details. Ingredients are important for me as I search for lubricants.

  • I received a sample and want to make sure it's the real thing before writing a review.
    • I got this sample with a wholesale order:

Is this the one EF is selling in larger bottles, so can I review it?
    • It looks the same to me. If you're going to review it, do note that you have a smaller sample size tho.

I would mention that. It got pretty good ratings but it's like the worst thing I ever tried maybe 2/5. So not sure if it's just my personal preference or just plain different. Ingredients looks like the same tho. I read your durex warming review! I like that lube and use it to the day. This is far worse than that in terms of smell and performance. I got a premium silicone lube recently and I can finally understand why people gave 2/5 to the durex warming :) But I like it anyway, it's different. But made me realize what tacky really means and now I got a better picture.

  • Why is this product not sold in the same types of containers?
    • I am wondering why the different weights are sold in different containers. The 17.5 oz. container looks the best, but costs more. The 4 oz bottle looks weird, and I don't like it. They should be sold in same-looking containers. Any comments? Agreements?

I'd noticed that, too, and I think it's a bit odd. I think it'd be much better if they made them all the same as you suggested. I guess they figure they're just giving people a choice in the way the lube is disposed?

The Gun Oil lube bottles look pretty much the same except for size or if it has a pump. Personally it doesn't bother me what the bottle looks like. Some I am sure are easier to conceal in a pocket or purse for the purpose of travel. Others do to their size like the one I baught being 35 oz. looks like a shampoo bottle and you could probably have out in the open as long as someone didn't take to close a look at it. I am sure they had their reasons for making the bottles the way they did.
