ID no glide

ID Glide and I just don't work out together. Being a fan of Liquid Silk, Glide has a hard time measuring up. The sticky lubricant provides very little use. It won't be useful for someone with dryness as it dries quickly.

Use

ID Glide is a water based lubricant for penis in vagina sex and safe for all toys as well. As far as anal sex goes, I doubt this will be of any use although I've never tried.

Only minutes after applying it starts getting tacky and sticky, leaving me slightly, well, pissed off. It's a decent lubricant since it is water based there's no fuss with making sure it is compatible with your toy of choice, but I'm having a hard time saying this is a good lubricant. It's no Liquid Silk by far!

Ingredients: purified water, glycerin, propylene glycol, cellulose polymer, polyethylene oxide, sodium benzoate, methyl paraben, carbomer 981, tetrahydroxypropyl, ethylenediamine, diazolidynl, urea, EDTA.

As you can see, ID Glide does contain parabens and glycerin. I'm not sensitive to those things, but if I'm going to put parabens and glycerin on my lady spots, it's going to be Liquid Silk. If you are prone to yeast infections or UTI's, this is not worth the risk! If you are allergic or sensitive to any of the listed ingredients, stay away from Glide.

Glide could be good for a back up lubricant when you run out of the good stuff, but other than that, it has little use. It just doesn't cut it for me. It doesn't make for a good massage since it becomes tacky almost instantly and dries up within minutes. For foreplay, maybe, but I doubt many people will be able to enjoy themselves using Glide for any type of play.

I applied a dime size amount to the back of my hand at the start of this review and it dried up before I finished my third paragraph and left my hand and laptop sticky.

Texture / Consistency / Thickness / Viscosity

I used a small dot the first time and went to massaging it in. My first thought was 'wow, this spreads well and feels slick.' That thought didn't last long and neither did Glide. Using with a toy it dried up in less than five minutes and the constant reapplying is bothersome. I didn't expect it to feel very natural like it is supposed to, but it doesn't feel natural at all.

It's runny and thin, but thicker than the usual water based lubes and like I said, feels nice and slick for the first minute or so. I still have it on my hand and it has managed to sticky-up everything I touch and this is after it dried! It leaves a terrible thick, greasy, tacky and sticky residue. That's a lot of residue. Slightly greasy, I can handle, but this is a nightmare.

When we used this for foreplay, I couldn't stand the stickyness on my crotch. We had to stop mid-foreplay for me to rinse it off. It was too messy to continue. For the review's sake, we went ahead and used it later for sex and again two more times for foreplay and I have to admit, I'm glad it's over.

The best way I know to describe this is like glue. It feels like having dried glue all over my crotch and hands.

The 1 oz container is very easy to use. When I opened it, it had a seal over the opening. The container won't leak and does require a gentle squeeze to get the contents out. That's a good thing for me because I don't want any chances of the sticky stuff running out by accident.

It stays in place well and spreads nicely. A small amount will cover quite a large surface. When I apply some to my index finger and turn it upside down, it will hold there for a good while before dripping off, unlike water which will drip off instantly. The thickness of it is great!

Taste / Aroma

The taste is horrible, it taste bitter and kind of sweet and has a chemical taste. The smell isn't strong, but detectable when held any where near my face. The way I describe the smell is similar to glue or Ora-Gel. If you've ever smelled Ora-Gel, it has a scent and Glide is similar to it, to me anyways.

If oral sex is on your agenda, I suggest not using this or washing with soap and water first. A wet wash cloth alone does not take it completely off and the taste is still there. I had to do a quick rinse before getting it completely off. The smell doesn't bother us, but the taste is really strong.

Performance

Maybe it's just that I've been spoiled by Liquid Silk, but this is really bad to me. I've used other ID lubricants and while none of them really thrilled us, this has been one of the worst. I prefer not having any residue left on my cooter, but as long as a wet cloth will fix the problem, I'm happy. Unfortunately, I can't get this off with just a wet wash cloth. I have to take a quick dip in the tub and rub with water to get it off. This is not good for situations where you don't have time for showering afterwards because of the stickyness left behind. When used for a back massage, my shirt would stick to my back afterwards when we were done. Liquid Silk never does that!

It isn't as bad as trying to clean off an oil based lubricant or a thick massage oil, but it doesn't clean up with a quick wet wash cloth.

I am extra sensitive to residue from any lube or lotion, but I am pretty sure the stickyness of this would be a bother to most women, sensitive or not.

The only thing I liked about ID Glide was that a small amount covers well, spreads easily. When it's first applied, it feels nice and slick. Being convenient is a good thing about it, but I'd prefer having to use specific lubricant for specific activities than be left sticky. If you're after convenience only, then this would probably be great since it's compatible with condoms and toys.

Packaging

The 1 oz bottle I got to try for a while before getting stuck with a larger size container, is 1 oz. It's in a very simple transparent bottle with a snap lid. It also comes in 35.5 ounce, 17.5 ounce and 9.5 ounces.

You give the tiny bottle a light squeeze and out comes a nice amount of lubricant. It's easy to use and comes out easily. The bottle has blue text on it. It says:
"ID Glide. Natural Feel. Water Based Lubricant." There aren't any sexual words or trashy nude images. It says lubricant on it and if anyone saw it, they'd probably know what it was, but it's discrete enough. It doesn't draw attention.

The container is nice for travel or throwing in a purse since it's not leaky. That's originally what I got this for, but since I'm not fond of the ID Glide, I bought a small container of Liquid Silk for keeping in my purse.

It doesn't have any instructions that come with it and no directions on the bottle. The bottle came in a plastic wrap, not a box.

Special Features

I couldn't help but compare this to Liquid Silk since that's my favorite. In comparison, it doesn't measure up. With Sliquid Silk, everything slips and slides and when using a vibrator, the silky feeling adds to the sensations on the clitoris. This does not. I think if it wouldn't sticky up so soon, it may feel alright, but it causes some real drag and that's uncomfortable.
