Lube, lube...and more lube?
I really thought this was a fantastic lubricant at first, but it grew sticky and tacky so fast that I had to reapply more times than I would have liked to.Published: August 21, 2011
Pros:
Safe with all toys.
Cons:
Naturally slippery feeling is very brief, sticky, tacky.
We were looking for a new, basic water-based lube to use with and without toys, and decided to give this one a try. At first glance, it seemed like a great product—it is odorless, slippery, and silky. It is supposed to be tasteless, and isn't QUITE that, but the faintly sweet taste was actually very nice. Upon first application, I thought I had found my new favorite lube—it felt almost like silicone lube in that is was very slick. It also felt almost like natural wetness, which felt great.
I would guess the taste comes from the glycerin in the lubricant. I know that some women have issues with the glycerin content in some lubricants causing yeast infections, so if you are prone to yeast infections, you can try to avoid that by washing yourself carefully after each use. Yeast infections run in my family, so I'm always very careful and either take a shower if I have time, or wash up with a damp cloth.
I first used this during solo play on myself, without a toy. At first, it seemed to be working really well, but in my first session using it I found that it grew tacky and sticky quickly and I had to reapply three or four times even in the short twenty or so minutes I was using it. It was frustrating to have to keep reapplying and interrupting what I was doing.
I didn't want to just give up on the lubricant after one use, so I tried using it with a toy. This water-based lubricant is safe to use with all toys, including silicone toys (unlike silicone lube), which has always been a draw to me about using water-based lube. Using it with a toy went better than the first time, but I still found that I had to reapply in the middle.
Overall, this Wet Original Lubricant seemed fantastic at first, but the sticky factor and having to stop what I was doing over and over to reapply sort of killed the mood for me. I think I will continue the search for a better water-based lubricant!

Follow-up commentary

I tried this lubricant several more times before finally just giving up on it. It disappears too quickly and interrupts our rhythm, and I would rather just use another water-based lubricant and save myself the trouble!

I have been using ID pleasure for years. I tried WET and it seemed to be a bit more watered down to me. Not a bad thing just not my thing.
Anyonee lse have this going for you too? -
I used to hate Wet products, they came off as cheap.
Until I tried their synergy line. I fell in love with both the original, and the tingle lubricant.
The Synergy is water and silicone mixed, which produces a gel. I hate water down lubricants.
As long as you don't use it with silicone toys, its fine. -
I used to feel the same way about wet

Why not the same looking containers for this product?

Why is the 3.5, the 4.8, and the 10 oz bottles of this lubricant sold in cool looking bottles, while the 0.8 amount and the 1.5 sold in smaller, weirder shapes? Why not miniatures of the cooler versions? Why a toothpaste looking bottle and a hand sanitizer looking bottle? Comments? Agreements?

Agreements?I'd assume that's just the bottles that the manufacturers felt were best for their item. Certain sizes will do better certain ways because of how they have to flex to squeeze the lube out.
Personally I don't care either way for stuff like this, none of the bottles are something I would want to display and the ease of use on all of them seems about the same, so it's not going to make a difference to me between the options. -

Agreements? At the size of the bottles for those smaller ones, the "neat" bottle wouldn't work. The little "handle hold" on the side of the bottle would actually be the entire length of the bottle. There just isn't enough product to warrant making the bigger bottle. However, if you contact Wet Lubricants, they always take suggestions well and could explain it further.

Thank you for viewing Wet gel lubricant review page!

good review, thanks for sharing. We have never had good luck with wet lube. sorry it did not work well for you.
I only had one wet lube I liked years ago and it sucks that this one doesn't make the cut. I can't stand a quick drying tacky lube. It's just counter productive.
I know! It was really disappointing that it just dried up so quickly. My favorite lubes are ID Millenium (for silicone) and Fun Factory Toyfluid (for water-based.)
I have always disliked Wet lubricants. They all seem to be this way and the flavored ones are the worst. Not to mention I always get urinary tract infections after using them!
