Classy and Elegant

The Brocade Corset by Coquette Is a gorgeous piece. I like pairing my corset with a nice skirt or pair of jeans to wear out in public, but it also makes a nice bedroom piece as well. I'm very happy with this corset. If it came in a multitude of colours, I'd probably get them all.

extremely useful review
The Brocade Corset by Coquette is available in sizes S-1X/2X. Just recently this corset was included in the spring clearance sale here at EdenFantasys so I just had to get one. I couldn’t resist the sale price! I really love wearing bustiers and corsets in public beneath a nice cardigan or similar item. I purchased the size large because the extra large was already out of stock by the time I placed my order.

The corset arrived folded in a plastic bag. The only text on the plastic bag was a sticker in the bottom corner, which stated the colour, size, and product name. I don’t consider the bag to be ideal for storing the corset. I prefer keeping my corsets in my closet. Inside of the bag, the corset had a cardboard tag attached to it. The tag has a few images of a model wearing the piece, states the company name, company website, size, colour, and size.

The corset is 57% cotton and 43% acetate (exclusive of trim). There is absolutely no stretch to the material of the corset. Luckily, the back of the corset laces up which can be widened if you need added width.

I’ve taken measurements of the corset lying flat, as it had arrived. The corset arrived with the lacing done up down the centre back with a ¾ inch gap. Again, this can be loosened to add width if needed. If you need additional measurements, please send me a message and I can get them for you.

Chest (armpit to armpit): 14 ½ inches
Width at bottom of corset: 15 ¼ inches
Length of corset (armpit to bottom of corset): 14 inches
Length of corset down centre back: 14 inches

When I had first pulled the corset out of the packaging, I knew that I’d have to adjust the lacing in the back, as it looked far too small to fit me. The corset does up down the centre front with metal clasps and “buttons”. The ‘buttons” are actually just small balled studs. There are 7 clasps that run down the centre front. You can see the clasping in the photo below. There are 8 plastic boning pieces to the corset; 4 down the front and 4 down the back. The centre front of the corset (where the metal clasps and buttons are) has thin, metal strips running down the corset.

The corset is red in colour. The lacing down the centre back is black and the trim along the top and bottom of the corset is black as well. The trim at the top and bottom of the corset runs entirely around the corset. The trim on both the bottom and top of the corset is ½ inch in length. Below you can see the detail of the trim.

The lacing down the centre back of the corset is similar to shoe string. There is quite a bit of length (thank goodness) to the lacing in the back but if you need extra width, the shoe lacing can be replaced with a ribbon or another string that you may have around the house. There are no loops to the corset to add shoulder straps or garter straps to. However, there are hanger ribbon loops in the armpits of the corset so that you can hang the piece onto a hanger when it’s not being worn. I wear pieces like this in public so I wasn’t upset that the piece didn’t have garter straps. It would have been nice to have optional shoulder straps though.

Being a size XL, I needed to max out the lacing down the centre back of this corset. The corset lacing can be done up by yourself, though it’s a lot easier if you have someone around to help you tighten it. I had to do the corset up by myself because my partner wasn’t around and it was a big pain in the bum.

The corset fit my body well, though I needed to seriously max out the included string down the centre back. To be completely honest, I’d prefer to replace this string with a nice ribbon because 1) I need more width and 2) it’d be much better looking lacing. To put the corset on by myself, I loosened the lacing and tried to see if I could do the centre front clasps up. If I couldn’t clasp the front, I’d loosen some more and repeat until I was finally able to fit into the piece.
Experience
...continued

Since there is no stretch to the piece, I found myself in a rather annoying situation. I started doing the clasps up from the top down, and then the bottom clasp would undo. I decided to start from the bottom up and the same thing happened. I feel that if I replaced the shoe string down the back that maybe it would be easier to do the front centre of the corset up (especially if my partner was around). The chest of the corset does not have any padding or underwire. The corset can be worn without a bra because the corset material is thick enough to cover nipple outline. My C cups fit fine in the chest area of the corset, though I wouldn’t recommend any larger.

Below you can see a few photos of me wearing the corset. The first photo shows a front view, the second is a side view, and the third is a back view. You can see in all of the photos that the length is rather short (especially on the sides) for me.

The corset is extremely comfortable and I did not experience any irritation to the skin while wearing it. The care tag to the corset states that it should be hand washed. I assume that the corset should also be line dried.

Overall, I’m happy with this piece. The only real issue I had with the corset is that I needed a bit more width. This was my fault though because I should have purchased the XL instead of the size large. Luckily I’ll be able to replace the lacing down the back so it will fit me better.
