Size Matters
This bustier from Coquette is perfect in every way, except in the sizing. Make sure if you order this piece you get it a size bigger than you think you need. Other than the fact that it was too small to actually wear, we loved this piece.Published: December 5, 2011

We love Coquette. All of our favorite lingerie pieces are Coquette. We have never been disappointed with any of our Coquette lingerie, until now. Before we talk about what we did not like let me talk about what was good about this bustier because there is a lot of good things to say. The bustier comes with detachable garters but nothing else. In the picture the model is shown wearing gloves, panties, pasties and thigh highs. This makes a great outfit but if you want any of these accessories make plans to pick them up separately since they do not come with this bustier from Coquette.
First of all this is a very well made piece. If you have ever owned any Coquette pieces you know this is not a surprise. This piece uses the normal hook and eye closures in the front and lace threading in the back. the lace threading is connected so it cannot come untied but can be used to tighten it as necessary. The bustier is made of satin and black lace. The feel of this piece is like heaven. It is so soft and feels so sexy against her skin. The boning is plastic but feels surprisingly sturdy and supportive. The cups are padded and look like they would support the girls very well.
The reason I say that it looks like it would support well is because it did not fit. We ordered the large which was labeled as 12-14. My wife is a size 12 so we figured this would fit with room to spare. This was not the case. We love everything about this bustier except the fact that she cannot wear it. So if you are going to order this make sure you get a size bigger than you think you need. Good luck!

Not sure but this runs really small. I ordered the large for my wife (who is currently a 12-14 just like the sizing chart says) and it did not fit her at all!

The product page lists this as Acetate, is it really satin?
With a lace-up back, it didn't fit at all?! I'm surprised that you couldn't untie the back lace at all, just adjust it. If you really liked this otherwise, could you just cut the lace and purchase your own that's long enough to offer more room?
What are your wife's measurements? I'm trying to get an idea if I'd fit better but don't know if it's mainly too tight for her in the bust/waist/hip area.. or how I'd compare..
It sucks that this didn't work out, I was looking forward to hearing someone review it with higher praise! Guess I'll strike this off my list until they supply an XL.

oh boy, no good when stuff doesn't fit
Tigerkate, acetate is a type of fabric. Satin is a finish that many different types of fabric can have. Satin can be made of silk, polyester, acetate - anything really.
Shame it didn't fit. I looks lovely.
Wow. How disappointing! The fitting issues I always hear about is exactly why I'm too afraid to fork over the $ for anything by Coquette. I just stick with my other favs. I wonder if you could adjust the ties to help fit? I know there are some that simply won't work no matter how adjustable. I have 2 corsets that just won't fit. So frustrating when they're so beautiful! Thank you for the useful details. Great job!
Tigerkate: The manufacturing website listed it as Satin so I went with that. In order to loosen the back I would have to cut the lace since it is one continuous piece. I have not tried that yet but may in the future.
