The Bullet that Didn't Go Out With a Bang

Normally I really enjoy Cal Exotics products. I find them to be innovators in trying to improve upon standard designs and making them more attractive or fun to use.

However, powering a bullet with watch size batteries which will die quickly due to constantly seeking a signal from the remote was not a smart idea at all.

This is one product I'm very disappointed with and one of the few I just can't recommend.

Use

Let me start out by saying that I LOVE bullets. They were one of my first sex toys I ever had and although we have used many many vibrators, bullets are our standard "go to" toy for my clitoris with 99.9% of our sexual play. At times if I am restless, I will use a bullet laying on my clitoris to help me fall asleep and have many times woken up a few hours later to realize that I forgot to turn it off.

I have the Eden Fantasy bullet, the Colt Xtreme Turbo bullet, the solar bullet and on and on the list goes.

I say all this because I want you to understand that I consider somewhat of an expert on bullets and collecting all the various ones is almost a hobby (but I refuse to consider it an obsession. I don't HAVE to have them all - I just WANT to have them all).

When I was offered the chance to Cal Exotic's Extreme Pure Gold Super Slim Remote bullet, I jumped on the chance. Wow - a remote bullet with 10 different settings. Little did I know I'd be "extremely" disappointed.

I recommend that you use this bullet mainly for clitoral stimulation although it may possibly be used for internal stimulation because it has a 3" plastic cord on one end. I do NOT recommend this for anal play because the bullet is fairly small and would be easy to get lost inside and cause a visit to the emergency room.

Material / Texture

While it may look like it is 24 Karat gold, this bullet is actually made from plastic that is food-grade material. This means it is hypo-allergenic, latex free and phthalates free. It is very smooth to the touch and can be used with both water based and silicone based lubes. There was no odor to the toy when I pulled it out of the package.

There is a seam around the center of the toy where you screw the two parts together. However, I did not feel it when I was using the bullet and didn't even think about it till I was writing the review and holding the bullet in my hand.

Design / Shape / Size

When I think of a bullet, I think of two things. One is the egg-shaped bullet which is my favorite shape. The other design I think of is the more narrow actual bullet shaped bullet. This is the more narrow bullet and you can see it below next to an egg shaped bullet.

It measures 2.5" in length, is completely insertable and is 3/4" in diameter. The smaller size does make it easier to hide and the vibrations can be felt throughout the whole length of the bullet (versus pinpoint stimulation).

In the photo below, you can see the remote control, the slim bullet and an egg shaped bullet for comparison.

Functions / Performance / Controls

According to the packaging, this toy is supposed to be able to be used from a distance of 16.5' (5 meters). Notice, I said "supposed" to be used in that range. We found that we had to be within 5' and almost in line of sight to be able to use it. If the person with the remote was behind me, the bullet would not turn on.

In fact, I took this toy to bed and went to use it there. I found that if I used the remote under the covers, it worked fine - but it would not control the bullet through my comforter which is definitely not 16.5' wide.

The remote control has two buttons. One button is the on/off button and the second button controls the cycles. There is no way to remember which cycle you are on if you turn the bullet off accidentally and you must cycle all the way through the various functions to get back where you were.

Speaking of the functions, there are 10 of them. The first three functions are from low to high. Then there are 7 other patterns which start with pulsations and then go to more of a roller coaster sensation at the end. Schwaltze wrote an excellent review of the vibrations in her review here and I recommend that if you're interested in this bullet you check out her review for a different viewpoint. I can't top her descriptions of the vibrations so I will recommend you read her review for them.

Care and Maintenance

Like all the other bullets I own, this one is very easy to care for. Simply wipe it down with a toy wipe or use a bit of soap and water to wash it off. Although it says it is waterproof and has an O-ring, I would not trust it enough to submerge it and in fact, I wasn't willing to risk the watch batteries by submerging it.

Do not try to boil this toy or put it through the dishwasher since it has a motor inside.

I want to add that when I first tried to put the watch batteries into the bullet, I was ready to pull my hair out. Have you ever tried to roll coins and have them go sideways in the coin wrapper no matter how many times you try to put them in straight? It was the same way with the batteries. It took me over 6 tries before I realized that the easiest way for me to do this was to stack the batteries on the table, place the bullet over the top, bring the bullet with batteries to the end of the table and slide my hand underneath and flip the bullet and then put the cover on.

Also, please note that the batteries MUST be removed from the bullet when not in use or they will continue to search for a signal from the remote and go dead. I got about 30 minutes of play with the toy before I set it aside and when I checked it a couple of hours later (after having forgotten to remove the batteries) - I found that the batteries were dead.

Packaging

The bullet came in a clear box that is designed to sit on a shelf or hang from a peg. It is not at all discreet as it states it is wireless, 10 function remote control for foreplay or secret play. The back of the box states, "Slip this super slim remote bullet into your panty or sweet spot and experience 10 incredible functions of vibration, pulsation and escalation".

The box contained the bullet, remote control, 6 watch batteries and two sheets of paper. One sheet showed how to insert the bullets and the other sheet had some sort of legal information on it.

The bullet itself uses 3 watch batteries at a time and the remote control uses 2 AAA batteries which are not included.

Personal comments

I asked my son to help me come up with a name for this review because he shoots guns. His first suggestion was "No magnum here, low caliber toy".

I liked the title but had no idea what it meant so he explained it to me. He said, "magnum is a high caliber, high power fire arm, usally in the context of a magnum .357 - its a high grain high power slug that was used by cops once. you get hit by one, you ARE down and out..."

Ah...that made perfect sense for this toy - but I wasn't sure most people would get it. So I gave the review a different title but will include his suggestion anyway.

My thoughts on this bullet? "No magnum here - low caliber toy".

Keep on looking.

That's strange yours didn't have the same range mine did. I also find it eats batteries way too quickly. Thanks for a different perspective.

Thanks for another well done review. I was on the fence about what I thought of this one. Battery hogs are definitely not desirable...

I love that you asked your son about what to name it and gave us some info on guns. You never know what you're going to learn on Eden.

I hate watch batteries with a passion, I really try to avoid toys that have them if I can.
