Ahhh I'm a little late! I'm very excited to see everyones work. I took a photo class last semester (I'm an art student) and now I can't get enough. Even though I only have a point and shoot I think I get some pretty good results.

One of the problems I always have is getting good close ups when not using a flash. Any pointers?

I got real lucky with this one, but it took 20 some odd shots to get it in focus.

The only think I know about any of that is if you want to take a picture of the northern lights in action you have to leave the shutter open for at least a full minute. I know that you shouldn't put a $1000+ camera on a cheap tripod too!
