How many of you are gun owners?

I'm with you! I'm glad our country doesn't allow people to run around with guns or any weapons, some may say that we should have the right if we choose but I don't want to have to be scared that my son will be shot in a school shooting because some kid was bullied and got a hold of a gun from his parents or off the street!

Yeah, my throughts too.
I like being able to walk down the street and know there aren't individuals or gangs waiting for a innocent victim to walk by.

The landlord allowed certain people to come on the property to shoot wild deer, but they had to go way down the paddock. He gave us the right to ban anyone we didn't want here.
We don't like guns so much - plus we have dogs and we don't trust people shooting anywhere near us or them - so we have banned any shooters on the property!

I deserve the right to feel comfortable at home and on the streets.

A gun is not a weapon. It is a chunk of metal. It only becomes a weapon when used as one. Just like any other item. Should be ban items that are used to hurt or kill? What about cars? More people are killed by cars then guns. Kitchen knifes, baseball bats, golf clubs, motorcycles, cars, ect.. The list would go on forever. Where do you draw the line? Do we punish law abiding citizens? Do the actions of a few criminals dictate the laws of the rest of us? That is one road that most of us do not want to go down.

Guns make me nervous! I would not be interested in owning one. With that said, however, I've never even held a gun! I'm scheduling a shoot right now for my series about self defense and women who carry guns. I will be going to a shooting range to shoot a gun for the very first time on the show. A little excited, a little nervous!

you will be fine. It is like anything else. After you learn how to use it and be safe with it, you wont be nervous any longer. Just follow all the safety rules and you will be fine.

I'm anti-gun, don't own a gun, and will never own a gun. I am an animal rights activist, so no hunting, live in a safe environment, so I don't need safety. I have no need or desire.

I don't care how locked up they can be, I don't like the idea of guns in the house with my babies. However I don't mind guns, and if I didn't have kids, I would definitely have one, because I'm a baby and scared to death that someone is going to rob me or break into my house when I'm home alone.

I have been really wanting to go to a shooting range to learn how to shoot a gun, just so I know how.

Thank you! I see all those videos on line where people are shooting for the first time and the recoil pops in the head and knocks them out and I keep imagining that happening to me on camera!!! Hahahaha

I'm not into guns, though I keep an air rifle because we live on the outskirts of town, where some rural aspects become obtrusive.

I've actually never even touched a gun! I'm not against them except if they're used for plain violence and not defense. My very close friend was shot and I grew up with a paranoid dad (still is! Just 2 nights ago he was paranoid about me wearing glitter haha. He thinks even glitter's danger to the eye balls! No glitter on eye lids around dad! ha ha.) Anyways, he was always paranoid about me and my twin and very concerned about safety so he kept guns totally out of our reach even as teens! I am glad, but now I'm 21 and my mom's been robbed more than once and held at gun point while working so even though we don't live in a violent neighborhood at all, ever since she was robbed, we've been talking about getting a gun. She needs one definitely and she's finally talked me into doing it... one day. My partner and his dad have always believed very strongly in having guns for certain defense situations and his dad's always begging me to learn to shoot so I can defend myself. I need to badly. I think it's perfectly fine as long as you keep them 100% out of reach of children! And of course use them wisely and only when you're in danger, unless you're like target shooting or whatever. Anyways, I'm not against them and really need to learn to shoot one myself.

I am sure the ladies at the range will take good care of you, but if I may make a suggestion: Beretta 92, the civilian version of the M9. I've got egg noodle arm muscles and even I can handle the recoil on this one.

Also, invest in a good pair of ear protectors. However loud you think a gun is, the reality is 50 decibels higher.

just wondering how it is too easy to get a gun in some states
In some states, private sales are legal and allow for avoiding the paperwork and background checks required with licensed dealers. These can sometimes occur at gun shows, but other places as well.

Sometimes that's true, but not always. There are some legal loopholes that allow for quick, paper-free purchases through private sellers.

true, but the seller will still register the sale of the gun, seeing how the SN is still under his name. It is also aginst the law to sell a gun to a felon, private sale or not.

Some sellers will, some won't. Depends on the person and the state. Some states don't require any kind of documentation. And with no background check, how do you know if someone isn't a felon? Take their word on it?

Well, that's kind of a stupid argument. A gun is designed to be a weapon - to maim and kill. I certainly don't remember one being used to open beer cans. Cars, kitchen knives, baseball bats, golf clubs, motorcycles, cars are all used, primarily, in a non-violent (to people and living beings) way. Guns, primarily, are used in violent ways.

I have a whole safe full of guns that have never been used in a violent way. I carry one with me most days, and it has never needed to come out of its holster.

this is kind of the reason why i want to move somewhere else lol. i know a few people who are very unsound mentally and yet they are allowed to own guns. it scares me by how lax the laws are and who can get them (legally too!!)

Guns scare me: I fear their power and, most of all, I fear that power in the wrong person's hands (which could be my own at a time of panic). I have a lot of family in the police force who have offered to take me to a shooting range and overcome this fear, but I'm just going to embrace it for now. =D

I have several guns, and use them most for sport, but I also have some for protection. Guns dont kill people, killers kill people. If a killer wants a gun he is going to get one and I will be damned if I cant protect my family.

I am all for guns but I don't own any. I think strict procedures should be in place for proper handling and storing of them. There's too many irresponsible people out there.

As of late I have been riding the fence on this one. I don't like guns in the home because they can be accessed for other means except for the purposes to protect. But if I had to protect my family/home, I would want one to do so. The problem is dancing on that fine line in between to make sure nobody gets hurt accidentally.

looking to buy a .22. my boyfriend's dad has a beautiful lightweight revolver that i covet but... i'd rather get an antique. boyfriend argues if i ever need to defend myself, a revolver is going to be much less useful than at least a semi automatic. we'll see!

its the damn zombie flicks that have me thinking this way. bitch's gotta be prepared.
