There lots of nerve endings back there to give pleasurable sensations. Also, I believe a plug would make the vaginal passage narrower and thus tighter during intercourse.

This is why I like using them. Added sensation is always a good thing, and depending on the texture of it you and your partner can feel it during intercourse.
