I've owned both cute and sexy lingerie, but the stuff that I seem to like the best and feel I look best in tends to be more on the "sexy" end of the spectrum. I tend to lean more towards darker colours like black and dark red, and feel that things like lace, lacing, and embroidery look the most flattering on me. That said, I've never been a fan of things like cupless bras and crotchless panties. Those just seem pointless to me. Like, why wear a bra that doesn't have any cups? Why wear any panties at all if they don't have a crotch? I realise that these types of garments are primarily just intended to look sexy rather than serve a practical purpose, but I'm a practical gal, so I can't help but over-think it. Also, I've never had a partner who wanted me to keep lingerie on during sex. They're usually just like, "Yeah, that looks hot, now take it off."

It depends on why I'm buying the item. If it's a 'just because' purchase it will likely be cute. If it catches my eye in a store it's probably going to sexy and maybe cute. If it's for her birthday or our anniversary then it'll need to be cute and hopefully sexy. If it's for my birthday it needs to be slutty!

One thing I've noticed is that two adjectives are used way more than any others to describe a piece of lingerie: "cute" and "sexy". I think a lot of great pieces manage to be both cute AND sexy... but some are cute without being particularly sexy, while others are sexy as hell - but not cute.
If a piece of lingerie is just cute or sexy (but not both), which do you prefer? less
