"Only needs 10% silicone" is a myth.....

Dangerous Lilly Dangerous Lilly
I attended CatalystCon this weekend and heard Ducky, Metis Black and Jennifer Pritchett talk about toxic toys. Not only does it not even have to have a single bit of silicone for the manufacturing plant to slap on "silicone" on the packaging, they can even lie about phthalates.

There's just so much bad going on with this unregulated industry, so many health risks in the cheaper toys, I want everyone to be as safe as they can be.

If you're interested to read about the panel, I wrote about it here: Sex Toy Journalism: Bringing Toxic Sex Toy Facts Out of the Attic

Wow, reading through some of this information is truly terrifying. i didnt realize there we're no regulations on how much or little silicone is used before a company can slap the SILICONE sticker on there (although im not very surprised about it). great read, thanks for this.

Great post, Lilly!

Toys are definitely an unregulated industry and shady stuff can sometimes happen. It's a shame -- but it's also awesome to see that so many companies have come so far in the past few years.

Here at EF we strive to make sure our material information is accurate and up to date, our products are labeled appropriately, and absolutely encourage you guys to inform us of any material discrepancies you might come across.

Gracis!

Thanks for sharing and helping to shed some light on this industry.

In this day and age, I am so surprised that governments haven't regulated the sex toy market. I mean... with the increase in sales in the past three years I would have thought they would as it almost seems it is the last "untouched" market.

But then again... it seems many governments out there don't want to touch sex related topics.
