They aren't intimidating BUT you do need to measure and be sure you aren't getting one too small. Definitely err on the side of caution and buy one a little bigger rather than too small and avoid having to end up getting it cut off.
I'd say beginners should start with the stretchy silicone types before advancing to the solid metal type rings. The appeal of the metal rings though is that if they are sized just right for you... they don't apply too much constrictive pressure, instead they are "just right" without being overly tight.
I am interested in trying a ring (for the first time) with my husband and I want to know if other folks find them intimidating.
All about which ones you choose. If you're a first timer, get a stretchy one with softer material. My wife and I loved the Neo as our first ring. Even got a vibe on it to give you a little something extra!
I'd like to try one; my partner thinks they look painful. Since he's the one who'd be wearing it, I defer to his opinion and hopefully one day he'll be interested.
We're both intimidated by them.
The current idea is to get one that is a silicone bolo tie style or one that is leather or neoprene that fastens with velcro or snaps so that it would be extremely low risk.
I want to try one on my husband, but some of them are a bit intimidating. Especially as a first ring I want to get one made of silicone so that it can stretch and we won't have to worry about it getting stuck. The metal ones that have no give would make me nervous.
My male partner is a little intimidated by cock rings. He realizes that he won't burst from using one or anything! But the idea of being constricted bothers him a bit. He wouldn't respond with a "Hell no!" if I gave him one. But if I did, much of the purpose of cock rings would be lost with him. His circulatory system seems to be working well. Too well? Is that possible?
We might try one of those vibrating devices that fall under the same category here--the ones that don't fit over the whole unit. I've been waiting for the Pearl embrace cock ring to get back in stock for quite a while. But I understand that there is something up with Topco right now. :/

I found your advice very helpful, thank you for the insight. I believe that we will be ordering a silicone one to try out first. Then if we enjoy its effects, we will most likely move on to metal ones. My husband likes the look of the etched ones.
