Soaked through!

I definitely soaked through one of these just now. Like, through to the carpet I had it spread out on. Thankfully it wasn't too bad and should dry soon, but... isn't that supposed to be impossible? I mean, I was gushing like crazy, but still!

Has anyone else had this happen? I've had this blanket for a few months and this never happened before (at least not that I realized). Dang it, I hope it's not damaged...

Oh wow. I was under the impression those were pretty waterproof/sealed for that type of thing. Sorry to hear about this. I can't comment on if its ever happened, beings I don't own one (yet lol), but good luck next time!

I've heard of the waterproof layer wearing out (after more than a year, though--might have been a few years? Can't remember where I read it). In any case, these blankets don't last forever, I don't believe.

A few months seems awfully quick, though. Wish I had a suggestion for you!

Yeah, I wouldn't mind if it was a couple of years old, but I got it at the end of summer and I haven't even used it a whole lot. I usually have it partly folded when I use it so it might have happened before, but I'm pretty sure the last time I had it spread out all the way nothing bad happened.

Is there a hole in it otherwise, or an area on the underside where the threads have broken (it tends to catch on stuff, I've noticed, and my cat has nearly punctured it a time or two)?

Not that I noticed, but I'll check again once it's clean and dry (popped it in the washer before I even realized anything had happened). If that's the case, I may be able to repair it myself if the damage isn't too bad.

If you can't find any damage, I think I'd submit a support ticket or contact liberator and see if there's any kind of warranty you can take advantage of. Maybe the waterproof layer wore out too soon or something?

I plan on asking the good folks at Liberator about it (I didn't order it from Eden, so no support ticket for me). If there is a warranty, then I just hope I can find my receipt!

That sucks. Hmmm, were you washing it in cold/cold and then drying on low heat? I've had mine for some years and I haven't had seepage issues. I suppose it could wear out, but mine has been tough, which is why I wonder if it could be a washing issue since it has that shag material I could see heat being the enemy.

This would be my guess, I have had mine about a year and can't even guess how many times I have washed it and it still works fine, even with a few holes in the outer layers. I wash it with cold water and hang it to dry.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, hopefully Liberator can help.

Update, ya'll.

I didn't contact Liberator, but I did check their return policy. Unused or defective merchandise can be returned within 30 days - I'm well outside that. Plus it seems like my dryer is set to medium heat rather than low like recommended, and it always took several turns for the darn thing to dry, so I haven't been caring for it properly anyway.

D'oh.

Hopefully, the folded-up method that I normally use will still be okay for now (since the leak wasn't too bad, I don't see why this wouldn't work), at least until I can save up my points and get a new one.

Thanks for all the advice and support, folks.
