Hefty in hand, suave in appearance, and voluminous in use, the Njoy Pure Plug is alluring in all the right ways.

If you're used to lighter butt plugs, you may be a little surprised by the extent to which gravity tugs at this seven-ounce crafted hunk of medical-grade stainless steel. But don't worry, I mean this in the best way possible. Opening up the box for the first time, I could see the Pure Plug sunken in its case, partially obscured by shadow, reflecting light with its gleaming body. It took me only a second to pull it out, and to re-conceptualize what seven ounces of compact steel feels like. As I became accustomed to the weight, I began to see the entire object, its design, its aesthetic, its beauty.

"Suave," I thought, as if it were already charming me. The Pure Plug simply looks sophisticated, with every millimeter seemingly crafted with precision and intention. The ring attracts the most attention instantly; it is, after all, what I'll be able to see when the Pure Plug is doing its job. The ring could be jewelry, except without any semblance of tackiness or gaudiness. The plug is too substantial, too lustrous, and, when it's inside you, too filling to be tacky.

At its widest, the Pure Plug medium is 1.25 inches in diameter. With an insertable length of 2.5 inches, this middle-size Njoy plug is not mammoth. Instead, it depends on making the most of its volume and significant heft as it tries to impress. Undoubtedly, any potential buyer of the Pure Plug medium should check out the small and the large as well, if not the extra large 2.0 (1.25 pounds!). From 1 inch, to 1.5 inches, to 2 inches at the 2.0's largest diameter, the other Njoy Pure Plugs provide a decent range of options.

However, if you're fairly new at buying butt plugs, you might want to consider the medium, as I did. It's large enough and impressive enough that you may have to push yourself a little beyond what you're used to, without jumping in before you get your feet wet. And the medium's likely large that even if you move on to bigger plugs, you'll still be able to enjoy the compact pleasure of this Pure Plug.

The Pure Plug is 100% stainless steel. And it's so smooth you'll want to just rub it with your hands, as if a friendly anal genie were to pop out. It's hard to say whether the steel texture is better suited for beginners or advanced users. It seems to me that it's for anyone who finds it absolutely gorgeous, anyone who likes powerfully simple sex toys. The steel is not soft in the slightest, but there's also nothing rough or uninviting about it. It feels amazing against your skin, although it can be quite cold! The temperature is easy to control, as it retains for a surprisingly long time whatever it's exposed to, but keep in mind that avoiding a cold metal shock takes a few seconds of forethought. Those few seconds, however, provide lasting heat, absorbed by the steel and slowly transferred to your body, preferably from the inside out.

The "pure, hypoallergenic, medical-grade" steel (as explained by Njoy) not only is compatible with all lubricants, but also excels in making the most of your lube. Since the Pure Plug is completely non-porous, and since the silky-smooth steel is perfect for distributing lubricant, only a few drops can do a world of good.

The basic design of the Njoy Pure Plug medium consists of three parts: the head, the stem, and the flared base. And all seamlessly blend into each other to make one beautiful shape. The head contains the majority of the weight, so that you really feel it inside you, and toward the back of the head it begins to taper, meeting the stem and dramatically reducing in circumference as it heads toward the base. The stem is thin enough that the Pure Plug can be worn comfortably for long periods of time, without constantly uncomfortable stretching. The heft of the toy is where it should be: inside your body. The base flares out into a beautiful oval, hollow in order to decrease weight. This ring is ideal for wrapping your fingers around in a wide variety of ways, whether grasping around the ring or through its center. As Njoy points out in the instruction manual, the base is thin enough to feel wonderful between your cheeks. I would add that it also looks wonderful pressed against an asshole.

The Pure Plug medium, at first use, was the largest butt plug I had used, and it took a little mental determination. Physically, my body had no problem with it, and after a couple minutes of gradually pressing harder, I slid the whole head inside. It was a perfect fit. Everything worked as intended: I could feel the heavy head pressing inside me, my body grabbed the thin stem tightly, and I could see the oval ring firmly holding the Pure Plug right where it's supposed to be.

After that first experience, I began to use the Pure Plug often. I discovered that heating up the toy with a little hot water really does live up to all the hype, that I felt stylish when I pulled the plug out of its box, and that it really worked, over and over again. It's an attractive object, which is part of how it performs so well.

I've never had any of the problems that I've seen mentioned with its performance, so I can't speak personally of them. Occasionally, I'm a bit anxious and slide the plug in when it's cold. I soon slow down and heat it up, realizing that the Pure Plug is best when given a little time. Lusting over its stylish beauty makes for some pretty good feelings of anticipation.

I chuckled the first time I read the instruction manual that comes with the Pure Plug. "About the only thing you can do to damage your shiny new njoy toy is to clean it with an abrasive cleaner or pad," it reads, "so please don't." Indeed, please don't; it would be sad to ruin such wonderful steel. Regular cleaning can be easily performed with soap and water, and Njoy suggests submerging it either in a 10 percent bleach solution or simply placing it in boiling water to completely sterilize before sharing the Pure Plug with another or switching between anal and vaginal play. My mentor also pointed out that you can sterilize it in the dishwasher on the top rack (but don't use soap!).

Storing in the provided box seems ideal. The Pure Plug sits inside in shaped Styrofoam covered by smooth and shiny pink cloth. The toy easily nestles snugly as intended. The instruction booklet fits behind two tight ribbons on the back of the lid, and the lid itself, when close, won't just flop open. Everything fits well. "njoy" is printed in silver on the outside, with "pure/fun" in tiny print. After every use, wash the toy and slide it back into its box; it will quite literally last forever.

The small instruction booklet provided tells how to clean and care for the Njoy's stainless steel toys, but the assumption is clearly that no further instruction is needed. Instead, the rest of the booklet shows off the full line of Njoy steel toys. It's not advertising so much as something for the curious to flip through. The booklet is a nice touch and well-presented.

The first time I used the Pure Plug with my girlfriend was my birthday. I didn't have to hesitate when deciding which toy would make me feel best. It didn't disappoint.

My favorite thing about this toy is that I can't imagine ever having a problem with it. There's nothing that will break. As other toys come and go, I feel like the Pure Plug will stay forever.
