Great for a Beginner, Adequate for Everyone Else

This is a great purchase for a beginner couple looking into rope bondage or for someone who wants this bedroom tool as a novelty. This is NOT for true bondage aficianados, as the rope has the look and feel of a novelty more than the essential tool of traditional bondage.

Use

This cotton rope can have an infinite number of uses, as a couple is really only limited by their imagination on how they can utilize 32 feet of rope in the bedroom. This is a great purchase if you are looking to be tied to the bed or handcuffed sensually for some passive restraint, as long as you are a novice or beginner in the realm of rope bondage. Personally, I think it is more sensual to tie someone up for a handcuff rather than just slapping one on. You can easily cut a small length of this rope to do this.

With such an ample amount, you can literally tie each other to a bed, a chair or anything else for that matter, and probably still have a length of rope left over. I tried several different scenarios and was always left with a long length of extra rope that I had to tuck away somewhere.

It is incredibly light as well, so if you are traveling this could be great fun in a hotel room while on vacation to try something new and different. Plus when it shows up on the x-ray machine at the airport, it will pass inspection. Handcuffs would be taken out and confiscated.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

This rope is uniform in appearance with no abnormalities at all in the 32 feet of length that is included. For the price it does indeed seem generous, however there are issues. The "black" of the black rope is closer to a very dark gray. And the more you use it, the less black it appears. For us, beginners, we didn't mind. However, I know people really into bondage and if it isn't a solid, deep, rich black, it just will not do.

While it definitely feels cotton soft, let's be sure there is no misunderstandings. It is soft, FOR ROPE! But it doesn't have that creamy, velvety feel of things that should be considered "soft" in the bedroom. This rope will not hurt or feel abrasive on the skin, but judging by other reviews and the product description, I expected the feel to be MUCH sexier!

Performance

For my amateurish needs, it worked wonderfully. I kept it all one length and was still able to use it for both arms and legs for some bedpost fun. The next time I use it, however, I will be cutting it into four, 8-foot lengths. Just as a tip, if you do this, purchase some black electrical tape (just a couple dollars at any hardware store) and use it to tie around the rope BEFORE you cut it, otherwise the rope will fray and the integrity of its strength will deteriorate.

We used traditional square knots, which typically cinch the skin because they pinch under the knot. But there is enough "give" in the rope to allow enough room, preventing pinching. I tried to tie it with the correct types of knots but wasn't really interested in being accurate in the style, I just wanted to give it a try in the bedroom. So for all you beginners out there, yes, this is great choice.

Care and Maintenance

I haven't figured out how to bring the color back on the rope so that the black gets richer. After testing an end with some color fast detergent, I didn't see any difference. So I think the color is what it is. A part of the rope had... well let's just say some foreign substance accidentally landed on it. With a little water and a towel, the rope was fine. It was still "soft" and there was no residue left behind.

Packaging

The package is a bit intimidating as it is JAPANESE BONDAGE ROPE. Don't be intimidated though. It is simply just a length of rope shipped in a plastic case. I think the packaging is intended to allure more hardcore bondage players, but I must say that any hardcore bondage players (as stated above) will be disappointed.

Experience

I enjoyed this with my partner and she enjoyed the light restraint. As handcuffs and as a restraint to tie to the bed, the rope was perfect. For my use, it was too long, hence the recommendation to cut it into multiple lengths.

We did try the traditional Japanese bondage of tied knots placed strategically over your lover's restrained body and it just didn't do it for us. However, if you want to test to see if you would like it, buy the rope and be confident in the product. Japanese bondage requires a long length of rope as it is the art of one continuous rope used for restraint.

I know how you feel. It's definitely really soft for rope though. You should try touching hemp sometime. That stuff is not soft. Nylon rope is pretty soft too though.

That's a good point. I was thinking of trying long satin sashes next time. More sensual, especially since we don't want to go to Home Depot for our bedroom supplies LOL
