My Little Pony, My Little Pony...

This bit gag is certainly a beautiful piece for ponies and submissives, but it's hard to say whether its pros outweigh its cons. It has many good parts to it, like its 100% silicone bit, but its execution is slightly poor in comparison to things similarly designed. But when it really comes down to it, this is a well-made piece that is worth its price and lovely to own.

Use

Spartacus Enterprise and a few other companies have decided to create a bit gag that can be used for those who are into pony-play, those who like the design of these particular gags, and people who are gag collectors. Though the Silicone Bit Gag is fairly intimidating to those who are new to BDSM, or new to being ponies, the design is also simple enough to be easy to use and fun.

After making sure that both you and your partner are on the same page about using this gag, stick it in their mouth and have fun! The straps wrap around the head to keep firm placement (though it does slip if not tight enough), and the gag prevents the wearer from speaking. Though they might be able to get out some squeaks or odd-sounding yells, most of what will come out is dribble.

If you are someone who loves pony-play, I definitely recommend going over to Sleeping Dreamer's page for some great reviews of other pony-play accessories.

Design / Craftsmanship / Material / Size / Fit

Bit Gags shouldn't be confusing. They should be pleasurable, fun, exciting, beautiful—but not confusing! And this one isn't even confusing in terms of getting it on; it's quite simple in that way, actually. It's confusing because its parts seem like they'd be the perfect materials to use, its design seems like it would be perfect to wear, but for some reason, I just don't find that to actually be the case. This bit gag is similar to others out there, but when weighed against each other, they each have their shortcomings.

One thing that would be a definite plus to some is this bit gag's size. It's a considerably smaller model, at three inches in length and 2½ inches around. It's easier to fit those with smaller jaws and mouths, and can be better for those just getting into pony-play or being newly trained. When adjusted, it can also fit people with smaller heads, but can be adjusted to much larger sizes. There are a total of eleven holes for adjustment, each about a half an inch apart. If not a perfect fit, fit it to the smaller hole so that the bit stays in place.

Though silicone seems as if it would be desirable to use as opposed to rubber, I am struggling to weigh the benefits against the negatives. It doesn't smell nearly as bad, but it does have this odd scent that I've never experienced with other silicone products. Though it does smell a bit odd, it has no taste at all, which is a very good thing when it comes to bits and gags alike. It can also be sterilized, as it's pure silicone, but the bit doesn't come apart, so this poses a problem in that area too. So truly, what are its benefits? It's an extremely soft silicone, that bounces back when bitten, but is hard to trust in terms of biting through the material.

The bit gag's cheek rings are not too favorable. They're not made in one piece and aren't melted together to create a clean finish. This is a personal dislike of mine; some might not be bothered by this. But for me, I am a little disappointed. Another sad point is its lack of a locking buckle. The buckle is very firm and works well, but locking buckles do look very beautiful. Spartacus Enterprise says on the back of the paper insert that it has "nickel hardware." Whether they're referring to every piece or not, I'm not sure, but since nickel is not hypoallergenic, do make sure to be cognizant of this. You do not want yourself or your partner getting sick or having an allergic reaction after wearing this.

I'm also fairly impartial to the leather straps on Spartacus Enterprise's Bit Gag. Though they are cut into a point, which is very attractive, the backing of the leather is extremely rough. The texture is gritty and oddly woven, not like the normal suede finish that leather naturally has. On the outside, however, the leather is very smooth to the touch—not much help to the wearer of this bit. This certainly isn't made with high-quality leather; it claims to be cowhide leather, but I'm not convinced.

Performance

This is definitely a piece that cannot be put on by oneself. It has to be adjusted with care and put on comfortably so that both the wearer and partner can enjoy. It's the type of gag that can be used in many scenes and ways. My personal favorite is just as a simple gag, since I'm not particularly into pony play (though I do like the accessories with it).

In use, it works very well. Since the silicone has no taste, it can be worn comfortably for long periods of time. It's a very lovely bit gag to use, and should last for a very long time. For safety purposes, the metal must be twisted so that the seam is hidden by the leather straps or silicone bit. This will prevent it from snagging on your partner's face, which can really hurt!

Care and Maintenance

The easiest way to clean this gag is by submerging it in boiling water for about three minutes (your hands may get tired from having to hold it), cleaning it with soap and water (make sure to get all of the residue from the soap off as to not make yourself or your partner sick), or just rinsing it with water. Depending on how you use this and who you use it with, you are the one who decides what method is best.

You can truly store Spartacus Enterprise's bit gag anywhere. Put it in your closet, in your 'special drawer', hang it up, wherever you feel like putting it. No place is a bad place for this bit, so it should stay in good condition no matter where you store it.

Packaging

Spartacus Enterprise's Silicone Bit Gag comes in a plastic packaging with a paper insert. The back says little information that's truly useful to those new to using bits or gags, it basically talks about Spartacus Enterprise's accomplishments and a general idea of what gags are supposed to do.

Personally, I'm putting it right in the recycling bin.

Personal comments

After receiving this bit gag by Spartacus, it's hard to say whether I like it more than my Kinklab piece or not. Of course, they each have their ups and downs (where Kinklab's main down is a huge down), but to say that one is better than the other is truly up to the user and just how they use it.
