Silicone bit gag - headgear by Spartacus - review by Red Vinyl Kitty

I purchased this bit gag because my husband and me love gags, and our last bit gag unfortunately went the way of the dinosaur. Unfortunately, this was just not what I thought it would be and we were both pretty disappointed in it. It's pretty inexpensive though, so if you're not quite sure if bit gags are your thing, this may be a good starting place before you decide to invest in a decent one.

The design here is the biggest reason why we don't really like this gag. The bit is made from three materials: leather, a soft and flexible silicone, and metal O rings. This will fit down to about 14" and up to 19". The metal O rings are just over 2" in diameter, and the silicone bit that goes in your mouth is 5" long, with 3" being bitable. The gag does NOT lock.

The gag straps do have a leathery smell, and the silicone has a faint "plastic-y" smell too. There was definitely no taste on this though.

Putting this on, it is definitely a bit too loose for me even when put on the last hole. The bit part of the gag was shorter than any other bit I've tried, and this is one of my biggest problems with the gag. The metal O rings wind up squishing into the side of my face in an awkward kind of "triangle" shape that neither me nor my husband find sexy at all.

I was very disappointed with the way the silicone gag fits into your mouth. It's so flimsy that I actually have to use my jaw to "hold onto" the bit. I can easily push this out of my mouth because it won't cinch down tight enough for me. Due to the fact that you can easily push this out of your mouth, talking isn't hindered very much either and words aren't very garbled sounding around this gag. If you enjoy the look of a bit gag, but don't care if it muffles your lover somewhat then this could be your gag. It certainly wasn't ours though.

Luckily, if you like to share your gags, this gag has one major redeeming quality: the bit part can be sterilized. You can use a 10% bleach solution and then share this gag with someone else. Please be sure that you rinse the gag itself VERY well after applying a bleach solution to it.

The metal can easily be sponged down with mild soap and water, and you could apply a leather cleaner to the straps if desired.

The gag is very well put together, so despite the fact that we're not really in love with it, it'll probably last us a lifetime.

This gag came in a simple clamshell case with a picture of a girl with the gag in her mouth on the front. It's not a discreet package, but you could store the gag in there if you wanted to. I really think that the gag folds down much smaller and easier without the packaging though. The packaging is easily recycled and comes with no instructions.

If the silicone had some kind of hard plastic or metal core, and was just an inch or two longer, we would have been in LOVE with this gag. Unfortunately though, the way it is designed makes for some uncomfortable play.
