Only Leash I Need

This is a great leash for just about anyone. It's sturdy and simple, but still sexy. The clip is easy to hook and unhook, and the rivets (one at each end) aren't going anywhere. The unfinished side of the leash sheds a little, but it's great for the price.

The unimaginatively named Leather Leash is simple and perfect for what it does. It's half an inch wide (much narrower than most collars) and 3 feet 8 inches long, not including the clip. At one end the leather is doubled over into a convenient loop which I found fit my hand very well. The clip is very easy to open and close in a hurry, and seems sturdy.

The leash is definitely real leather, though after being out of the package for a while it has only the faintest leather smell. This is probably a pro for some people and a con for others. One side of the leash is finished and very smooth, while the other is unfinished and fuzzy. I like the feel of both sides, but the unfinished one does shed little fuzzies, which is something to keep in mind when storing the leash. I would have liked it better if both sides were finished.

The leash is great for clipping quickly onto a collar and pulling someone around, leading them, or attaching them to a piece of furniture. I would have liked it if you could adjust the length of the leash. I used it mostly at close quarters, rather than for leading my girlfriend around, so I was usually gripping it well below the end loop. That said, it's still really sexy as is. The leash seems pretty strong, but I haven't subjected it to really hard use. It seems like it'll last quite a while.

The leather leash really shouldn't get wet, especially its unfinished side. I haven't had to do anything to maintain it yet, but if you have it a long time you can use the same products on it you would with other leather goods. Hanging up is probably the best way to store it, but I keep mine loosely curled up and it hasn't suffered yet. The most important thing is to keep it dry.

  • What else would you use as a leash besides a traditional leash?
    • Trying to spice things up a bit.. What would you use?
    • Hmm aside from just a regular leash you could use a tie either as a slip lead (carefully!) or thread it through the clip on a collar.

A cute chain belt like this could also work:

Be creative! Nearly anything can be hooked to the collar and then use the other end as a loop for the handle, and it can be really fun to improvise with whatever is around

A length of braided rope or ribbon could be nice as a bit of a change.
And if you're not going to be rough with it you could try using a pearl (or faux-pearl) necklace to add a bit of elegance.
