Okay, so being new to "adding some play to your day" sex, as I call it. I love this product. It's exactly what it says, two (2), silky sashes that you can use as restraints. They are not real silk, of course; but they feel very nice and sensual, are very versatile, and super comfortable.
I bought these as our first "bondage" experience. We wanted something discreet, something not too restricting or painful, just so we could try it out.
Let me tell you this is just what we were looking for, and were really, really fun!
We used one for my wrists, and the other for a blindfold, like on the packaging. The best part was that the ties didn't pull my hair, even though we tied a few of my hairs in the stash by accident, the material was smooth enough that my hair just slid out.
We also used one to tie my wrists and the other to "chain" me to the bed. Like I said, these are very versatile.
I've read a review that says they are also a nice alternative to a ball gag. I haven't used them that way yet but the material seems to be okay.
As for washing, I just popped them into the washer on low/delicate setting with my other delicates (panties/bras) and they were just fine! But I did hang them to dry, I didn't use the dryer, I was afraid the sash restraints would shrink.
I would recommend these for couples who are new to adding anything to their sexy time, like us, but didn't want to jump into something too heavy.
These are not too extreme, totally discreet, are easily packed if your traveling unless you leave them tied to the bed, washable, and versatile, and of course FUN!

Follow-up commentary

I've recently discovered that if you want to add some extra sensory fun, you can put these little sashes in the freezer just to get a nice cooling effect, and it can aid in a nice sensual change up when giving him a little hand shake ;) even though the sensation is cool, you can re-heat things with you go down!

What is the best material to use for a first time starter on this type of play?

How sure are you that you'll enjoy it? I think some of the bondage rope is supposed to me more versatile and comfy overall. I remember seeing someone post about silk sashes being a little worse than rope for some reason, something about the silk bunching up? I don't remember the details. Rope and such would probable be better for experimenting than cuffs, though. There are more uses for rope in a common vanilla household than there are for cuffs...
