I am sad to report that these suction cup cuffs do not stick to surfaces that are made of smaller tiles - they really need a completely flat surface to stick to, not one with texture. As well, I have started to wonder if I could ever actually enjoy being cuffed in the shower - I am a little neurotic about slipping in the bathroom (I don't know why, some deep seeded phobia). As well, being cuffed in a tub of water doesn't really appeal to me either.

Definitely a cool thought, but won't these cuffs just come right off, as soon as a side-to-side force is applied at the suction cup, instead of a direct force pulling away from the wall?
No, they won't. The suction cups are very wide, and are decently flat, and the material is smooth on the inner surface but not very flexable. It is damned near impossible to make them slide sideways, much less come off from sideways motion. steady, pulling down force will eventually make them let go - but if that downward force is let up on, they stick to the flat surface again (meaning, it's not like every pull downwards loosens them 10% so if you do it 10 times, they fall off - every pull down may loosen them to some percentage (I have yet to put my full weight on them, but I've never taken them to 100% and I am a strong girl), but as soon as you let up pulling, the shape and design of the cups allows them to regain their strength of attachment).
