Not as fun on multiplayer.

The Royal Duet features dual ends for your pleasure! Each end gives you a different experience with the texture. One side is a bumpy ride, and the other is a swirly delight. This toy may claim to be a double-ended dildo that two women could use at once, but it seems to be better suited for single player mode.

Use

The Royal Duet is a double-sided dildo with two different textured ends for a multitude of experiences. You can use this alone and have the opportunity to switch up the textures if you wish, as each side provides a different sensation. You can also use this in female-female sex for dual penetration of both partners.

The Royal Duet is meant for vaginal penetration more than anything else. It lacks a flared base which makes it less than ideal for anal penetration. With that aside, the dildo is quite long and would be somewhat hard to lose internally. It may be fine if you insert it no more than half way, but it's not a toy I recommend for anal play. (It's also quite straight and rigid which may make it uncomfortable for this.) The toy is long, but it is a relatively slim size, making it perfectly suitable for beginners. Those just dipping their toes into the world of glass will appreciate the varied textures of each end. The textures on each end are very common in the world of glass toys.

Like all glass, this toy can be placed in a fridge, cool water, or warm water for a bit of temperature play. Glass retains temperature very well, so it will remain this temperature for an extended time. (Placing it in the freezer or in boiling water may cause too extreme of a temperature for comfort.)

And, as with all toys of a hard nature, make sure you take extra care when thrusting so that you don't bruise the cervix. This toy is pretty long, so you'll have to be just a bit more careful with it than you would with shorter glass toys.

Material / Texture

Glass has a wonderful, firm, smooth feel that offers a beautiful amount of glide so that lube only needed in small amounts, if at all. This piece has two different textures. One end has a lovely nubbed, bumpy texture that isn't raised too much to be uncomfortable, but is raised just enough to be noticed. The other end has a nice swirl texture that is very different from the nubbed texture of the other end. It doesn't provide the most out-of-this-world sensation, but it's a nice added touch. Because the texture is slight, but nice, beginners can enjoy this toy just as much as the pros.

Another wonderful thing about glass is that it is virtually impossible to break during normal use. In fact, you can even drop this thing on the bathroom floor and it probably won't even end up with a scratch. All of the SSA glass toys are made from reinforced Pyrex glass that resists breaking and shattering. If it does break, it will only break into a couple of large chunks. If your toy is damaged or has any cracks, chips, or fractures, you'll want to toss it, though.

Glass toys are also some of the few toys that will maintain full beauty and function 10 years from now. They're a wonderful investment because of that.

Design / Shape / Size

The Royal Duet is 9 1/4" long, and has a diameter of 1 1/4", making it a long and slim piece. It seems a bit short for dual female penetrations, seeing as each partner would only have about 4 1/2" to work with if both ends were fully inserted. The slim size means that it's not intimidating and doesn't provide much of a filling sensation, so it may not be enough for those who prefer average to large sized toys. Because the toy is straight, it's not the best toy ever for g-spot stimulation, but the slim size allows it to be tilted just a bit so that stimulation is possible.

Each end of the dildo has a slightly realistic representation of a penis head, and has a small notch on the underside of it. That's about the only realistic thing about this dildo. The textures or bumpity bump and swirly are raised enough so that they can stimulate a little, but they're nothing too intense or distracting. They are really pretty, though, and add to this piece's charm.

As with most glass pieces, this looks like something you can sit on the coffee table as a piece of "modern art". I don't think I've ever seen a glass piece that wasn't that pretty. Even my non-toy enthusiasts friends who collect glass pipes fall in love with all of mine, and this one especially.

Performance

Ok, yeah, this is a double-ended dildo . . . but it's really not great to use as one for two female partners at once. The glass material is very rigid, for one, and the toy is perfectly straight. If two women were to use this, the most comfortable way to do it would be where both are flat on their backs and scooted up all the way till they were practically touching. Then, if in this position, thrusting becomes a little difficult because of the short length of the dildo, and the angle bending would put the dildo. So, for female-female penetration, this one doesn't really live up to the hype.

On the other hand, this is a great dildo for solo use. The length allows you to get a nice grip and acts as a handle, and allows you to penetrate as deeply as you would like. The varied textures add a little fun to the experience. It's glass, therefore it is awesome for temperature play by yourself or with a partner. Overall, it's not a bad glass dildo if you're into slim, long toys.

Care and Maintenance

Glass has to be the easiest material to clean and take care of. Dirty? Throw it in the dishwasher! Of course, you can always wash this with soap and water, toy cleaner, wipes, bleach solution, or any other way you'd wash glass. Just make sure that you give it a good rinse if you use anything harsh on it. It's compatible with all types of lube out there, so you're not limited there. It's non-porous, so you can boil it or bleach it to get it super clean and ready to share.

It does come with a storage pouch, but I found that the pouch was actually a little short for the toy. I used another longer pouch that came with another one of my SSA Glass toys and it worked perfectly. You can store this dildo anywhere you can fit it, so it's all up to you. It's not going to react to any other materials or heat like toys made of other things may. The best advice I have is to make sure it's in a place where it's safe from falls, scratches, or any other harsh treatment. Again, if it gets damaged in any way, toss it.

I haven't even dug this one out since I wrote the review. I think the only reason I bought it is so it could be part of my glass collection and it was on sale. It's pretty, I'll give it that. It's just not very comfortable.

@Stormy: I'm the type who prefers more direct stimulation, but some people think they're a little too hard. I mean, you can't get Pure Wand level stimulation out of something any softer. It's all preference, though.

Nice review, Miss D! I snatched this on sale too... I don't think I'll ever have occasion to use a two-partner-at-the-same-time dildo, but I thought it was good to have *something* on hand that was workable and not made of jelly, just in case... but when I had it in my hand it was definitely shorter than would be effective. If your review had been up earlier, I wouldn't have bothered to pick it up. So, great review!

Saw this on ToyTimeTim's demo and checked it out. I'm not much for the really textured things but the "double ended" part caught my eye. It's good that you mention it's not really long enough for two-player mode (hehe, that was a great analogy).

  • New to Glass Toys: Any Advice?
    • I have always wanted to try a glass dildo, but am a little nervous. I am not sure how safe they are. Have you guys ever had anything chipped or broke?
    • Earlier today I had used the Gold laced G dildo and I didn't know where I put it in the sheets.I looked for it and lifted the sheet up and IT FELL ON THE FLOOR.I had just got it a couple of days ago.It fell to the other side of the bed and I went over expecting the see glass everywhere and it wasn't.It wasn't even cracked when I looked over it.Long story short some of them are durable.And this was my first one so I can't speak of others.
    • I have only ever gotten ones that are cracked or chipped upon arrival. Check out Tim's video. Fully inspect all your toys upon arrival. If it is cracked or chipped send it back. If you drop it, check it again. Glass is amazing. I have 23 glass toys. :D

      It's great for solo, and while I wouldn't suggest it for trying to do DP since the length doesn't accommodate that I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be lovely to have a partner use it on you, manually.
    • I agree with FayDreh. It's a very firm toy and is very short in length. However, you don't really mention what you mean by "two". Do you mean in a simultaneous, double-dildo use like two lesbians would usually use? Or do you mean a toy that can be shared between you and your partner anally/vaginally/etc.?
