Unforgiving but Unparalleled

With the Pleasure, Duncan Charles Designs has created an elegant and timeless vaginal dildo. It's hard and straight, so it's not always perfectly comfortable, but if you like gentle ripples, this toy is a must-have.

Use

The Pleasure, from Duncan Charles Designs, is a ceramic dildo intended to be used vaginally. It doesn't have a flared base, so it can't be used anally or in a harness.

It's entirely covered in ripples that may appeal to those who like a little bit of texture but not too much.

Ceramic is very firm and unforgiving, and as with any firm toy, you'll want to be careful when thrusting with this or you could injure yourself, especially your cervix.

Material / Texture

Duncan Charles Designs is a company that makes all of its toys out of ceramic. This is a material that I've rarely seen anywhere else in the sex toy industry, so it's certainly a novelty.

As far as I can tell, it doesn't have any noticeable smell or taste.

EdenFantasys' description of ceramic says that the ceramic used for sex toys is nonporous and body-safe, so you don't have to worry about any clay chemicals emanating into your body while you use this dildo.

I had a hard time choosing between the Pleasure and another Duncan Charles dildo, the G-Brush, because I like G-spot stimulation and wasn't sure if the Pleasure could deliver. However, the ripples are very enjoyable, including to my G-spot. The ripples aren't super intense, but they're also not wimpy; they're a good happy medium for people who like texture but don't love it.

The surface of glazed ceramic has very little drag to it. A little lube and it's ready to go, similarly to glass or steel.

Design / Shape / Size

The design of the Pleasure is very simple. It's just a series of round ripples with a flat base so the toy can stand up on its own. The ripples are the same girth and length throughout the toy, creating a uniform series of bumps. This simplicity won't thrill everyone, but I think it works in the toy's favor: I have another rippled toy, the Icicles No. 2, that failed because it was too small for my vagina and too large for my ass, but the Pleasure seems to be the perfect girth to stimulate my G-spot with its ripples.

This toy could've been improved with a better base. It's long enough that part of the shaft sticks out of me when I use it, and that extra length can be used as a handle, but it's not all that easy to thrust quickly with. If it had a flared base, the base could be used as a more wieldy handle, and the toy would be anal-compatible. I think it would feel great anally, but I'm too worried to try because of the thin base.

As I said, the toy is longer than my vagina, so it wouldn't be comfortable if I had to insert it all the way - but fortunately, I don't. The ripples are small enough that I can just use the first 4 or 5, leaving the remaining 1 or 2 outside of my body, and that works fine.

The toy has an insertable length of 7" and a very average girth of 1 1/2" at its widest points. If your vagina is long enough, you can insert the entire toy, because there's no base to stop you.

While the toy certainly doesn't look like a penis, I think most people would recognize it as a dildo just by looking at it. However, I don't think it would show up on an airport security scan the way a steel toy would, so it might be good to bring along if you're traveling.

Performance

The Pleasure is very simple and straightforward. You definitely don't need to have any special skills to use it. You don't even need to angle it to get it to hit your G-spot; it just does.

As I said, I was dubious of the Pleasure's ability to find my G-spot, since it doesn't have any curve to it, but the ripples actually do a good job of this. I usually end up moving it in small thrusts, quickly, so that one of the ripples in particular will move back and forth over my G-spot again and again; this seems to be the most effective way to use this toy for me. It also feels nice just sliding it in and out in long strokes, but that doesn't target the G-spot as well.

The biggest downsides to this toy are its extreme firmness and its total lack of a curve. Some people like long, straight, hard toys, but I find them uncomfortable on occasion, especially during my period when I'm more sensitive. It's all too easy to bump into my cervix with this toy by accident, since it's so long. And I sometimes find myself longing for something that conforms to the inner curves of my body better, rather than just filling me up with something totally straight and unforgiving.

Also, as I said earlier, I'd prefer it if this toy had a proper handle. I like to thrust very quickly, for long periods of time, when I use a dildo, and I find that this one tires out my arm, hand, and wrist after a while, because it can be hard to cling onto.

Care and Maintenance

Ceramic can be cleaned with soap and water, same as you might clean a piece of ceramic tableware. You can also use wipes or a toy cleaning solution, as long as the chemicals aren't too harsh.

Sometimes it's hard to clean the dirt and debris out of the cracks in a textured toy, but the Pleasure's ripples are large enough that you can get in there fairly easily.

Disinfecting can be achieved with a 10% bleach solution, but don't boil this dildo; it might crack or chip.

Duncan Charles toys come with an elegant storage pouch which keeps them safe from chipping if they crash into another toy in your storage area, or if you accidentally drop the toy while taking it out. I love when companies include storage solutions with their toys - they all should!
