Journey to Blissful Gratification

The Serenity traditional vibrator is a beautiful silicone vibrator. It has seven functions and a separate on/off button. Serenity is waterproof and great for use in the shower or bath. The light-touch controls can cause an inadvertent setting change or turn the vibrator off when using it.

Use

The Serenity vibrator is part of the new Couture line from California Exotics. It is great for beginners, or those who don’t like a lot of girth in their toys. It has a rippled surface, but the ripples are smooth and not too pronounced.

The Serenity can be used to stimulate the clitoris and vulva, as well as used vaginally. The Serenity should not be used anally since it does not have a flared base.

Material / Texture

The Serenity has a soft, velvety feel with a lot of give to it except at the tip, where the bullet is located, and the base. It has a rippled surface, with the ripples running diagonally from top to bottom. The toy is seamless, and has no scent or taste.

The color of the shaft is a delicate lavender, while the base is silver.

Serenity is made from Japanese medical-grade silicone, so it repels dirt and bacteria. It is also non-porous and phthalates-free.

Design / Shape / Size

Serenity has a lovely design. It is 7” long with 5” insertable. Ripples run around it in a top to bottom pattern like a soft serve ice cream. The ripples are not too pronounced, but do provide some stimulation down the shaft to the vaginal walls.

This vibrator has a lot of give and is soft and pliable except towards the tip where the bullet resides and at the base. This allows for a comfortable insertion of Serenity, as well as easier external positioning.

The diameter of this toy is only about 1 1/4", so it works well for those who don’t like a lot of girth in their toys. It is also very light.

Serenity would be a great travel companion, although it would be best to pack without batteries. The controls are activated by a feather touch, and it could easily turn on when packed in a suitcase.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Serenity is a 7 function vibrator, controlled by light touch controls on the base. The base comes up a bit in the front, and the controls light up with a red light when pressed. There are 2 buttons: the top button is the on/off button, and the bottom button allows cycling through the functions.

This vibrator runs off of 2 AAA batteries. The battery compartment is accessed by grasping the knob on the bottom of the base and turning it left until a click is heard, then lifting the cap off. Directions for inserting the batteries are indicated by symbols, and the batteries are easy to insert and remove.

The cap can be replaced by lining the cap up with the notches, then turning it about a 1/4 turn to the right. It doesn't require a lot of pressure to turn the cap, but it latches securely and does not tend to come open during use.

Serenity is turned on by pressing the on/off button. This does not start Serenity vibrating, however. The bottom button, with a wave line on it changes the mode to one of the following:

- low vibration
- medium vibration
- high vibration
- low to high rolling vibration
- medium pulse
- faster, shorter pulse
- 3 pulses, then long vibration

Serenity can be turned off while in any mode by pressing the on/off button.

The buttons only require a light touch, and can be pressed inadvertently when thrusting. The 2 AAA batteries provide low to moderate vibration power.

The Serenity is remarkably quiet. It is not as loud as a cell phone set to vibrate. Under the covers or with background music on, it is unlikely anyone would hear it in use.

Serenity is waterproof, and fun for the shower or bath. No water leakage into the battery compartment was noticed, even after submerging the vibrator for 10 minutes.

Care and Maintenance

Serenity is made of 100% medical grade silicone, and is body safe, non-porous, phthalates-free, and latex-free. It can be cleaned with soap and water before and after each use.

This vibrator can be stored in or out of its box. While it doesn’t come with a nice bag, it is enclosed in a thin Styrofoam-like bag that can be used for storage. Because the base is rounded, Serenity cannot be stored standing up, and it should never be touching other toys made of materials like jelly or rubber.

Since the Serenity cannot be sterilized, a condom should always be used if sharing this toy.

Only water-based lubricants should be used. A small amount will do, as the lube will glide over the surface of this toy.

Packaging

This vibrator comes packaged in a white box, with a picture of the Serenity on the front. Blues and purples make the color scheme, and a splash of water on the front indicates the toy is waterproof. The product information can be found on the box side, with more information on the back. Serenity can be registered online.

Inside the box, Serenity comes wrapped in an air pack, and a thin Styrofoam like bag.

Personal comments

The Serenity is a nice traditional vibrator. I like how it has give when I press on it, and isn’t rigid. It gently bends when pressed on the clitoris, as well as when inserted. It’s much quieter than other AAA vibrators I have, which makes it easier to use discreetly.

The only real drawback is the light touch needed to manipulate the controls. It doesn’t take much pressure at all to either change the vibration mode or, if your finger gets to high, to turn the vibrator off. If you can get a grip more towards the bottom of the base, this can be less likely to happen.

The light up buttons are nice if a partner is using this toy on you, but don’t do much if you’re using this toy yourself. Unless you’re in an interesting position, you won’t be able to see them.
Follow-up commentary
I still enjoy this vibrator, although I do wish it was a little thicker, and also that the controls weren't so easy to press. My husband isn't fond of the base of this toy for thrusting with the buttons or the difficulty getting a grip on it, so I tend to use this for solo play. I love how quiet it is!

Great review as always! I like that it has two buttons, one for on/off and one to change the modes. I have one vibrator that literally just has one button for everything. You have to cycle through all the vibrations (and there's about 7) before you can even turn it off.
