extremely useful review
The Serenity is a lovely, very feminine looking, lilac colored, silicone vibrator. It is from California Exotics new Petite Couture collection. As soon as I saw this I knew I had to have it. How could a girl not love something so pretty? Especially since, as California Exotics says, it's made from the finest medical grade silicone from Japan. I love silicone toys! They're non-porous, hypo-allergenic, unscented, and are great conductors for vibrations. Plus silicone feels amazing! And on top of all of this the Serenity is waterproof. Which means fun in the tub or shower. Of course I had to take a shower just to make sure this was true and it was.

The Serenity is a traditional type vibrator. Which means it's meant to be used vaginally, but also can be use on the clitoris. It is on the petite side with only being 7 inches long, 5 inches of that is insertable, and only 1 1/4 inch diameter. Unless you prefer a lot of girth all the time, you will still find this little gem quite pleasurable. The surface has a soft velvety texture that creates a nice amount of tug, but if you squeeze the shaft it's kind of squishy and it's fairly flexible as well. This make insertion easy and thrusting smooth. It's also great for rubbing or grinding it against the clit. The tip of the Serenity is firm because that is where the vibrating bullet is located. But even though the bullet is in the tip, the vibration are felt through the whole shaft. Running diagonally down the Serenity are what I can only describe as swirls. Though the swirls are very pretty, I couldn't really feel them internally. There is also a slight curve to the tip. Though not enough to consider it a g-spot toy. I actually felt the curved tip was more noticeable when used on my clit.

Curving up from the bottom of the Serenity is a silver base where the two lighted control buttons are. California Exotics calls them feather touch controls. Which is true because it really is quite easy to scroll through the functions, almost too easy. The one on top is strictly for on/off purposes. The button on the bottom is for cycling through the 7 different functions. The first three functions are a steady low, medium and high. The next four functions are escalating, slow pulse, fast pulse, and lastly a function that has three pulses then a long steady vibration. My personal favorites were the highest steady and the slow pulse. This is also an extremely quiet vibrator. You could possibly get away with using it while someone was in the same room as you, so long as you're not making too much noise.

The vibrations are not overly strong or the deeply felt kind, but they're not really a high pitched buzz either. The best way I can describe them is that they remind me of an electric toothbrush. There were times that it even tickled a bit the way an electric toothbrush does, and I have to say I kind of liked that. So those of you who have been secretly using your toothbrush for areas other than your mouth and loving it, this is the vibrator for you. Actually the Serenity is great for just about anyone. I'm a high power type of girl and I really liked it. I tried it vaginally and on my clit. Both of which felt great, but neither gave me an orgasm by itself. Finally I decided to use it vaginally with a stronger vibrator on my clit. Which worked very nicely with having vibrations inside and out.

At the bottom of the silver base is the battery compartment. It's very easy to open, load and close. Just twist the cap counter clockwise and the lid pops off. Insert two AAA batteries and replace the cap.

The only true drawback with this toy is the packaging. The box was tastefully done and not threatening looking at all, but once I opened it all that was in there was my vibrator in a Styrofoam bag. I feel they should have taken it a step further and at least had some type of permanent casing for this lovely toy. But that certainly wouldn't have stopped me from getting this.

Just in case you don't know this, you should use only water based lube with silicone toys. Silicone lube with silicone toys can cause a reaction that will ruin your toy.

Also because this is a vibrator, it is not sterilizable. But clean up is easy with a good antibacterial soap and water or a good toy cleaner.
Follow-up commentary
This isn't the first vibe I usually choose to grab, but I do still like it. I prefer it for vaginal use and still need to use it with another toy to have an orgasm. But it's great for when I'm in the mood for soft and squishy.

Shame about the Styrofoam. You'd think it would be easy for sex toy companies to at least make recyclable packaging..

    Thanks for the review!

There should be better packaging for the price too. Styrofoam is bad for the environment as well.. I like to see companies that take an extra step to minimize packaging and make it more eco-friendly as well. I'd love to see a "green" toy line.

    Thanks for the review Smile

    dito on the Styrofoam

    great review, thanks

I agree about the styrofoam and the packaging. But for me it wouldn't be a "make it or break it" decision.

    Thanks everyone!

I was very glad to see Cal Exotics coming out with this "Couture" collection, since most of their toys don't tend to be of the best quality. Nice to hear that you liked the toy! I'm in the market for a new waterproof straight vibe. Maybe I'll check this out.
