Oh-Ew...?!

I think this item is pretty useful, a great product for males and females, perhaps not for flavor play. When you need to numb a part of the body, whether for sexual play or simply because something hurts, I think this balm will be plenty useful and well-liked by those who need this sort of product. A little of this product goes a long way. I'm not sure I would buy this product again since I don't use "add ons" too often.

extremely useful review
Shunga Sensations Balm is a soft gel-like cream that is designed to numb any part of the body it touches. I found that this product does indeed offer a pleasantly light numbing sensation, and it did make orgasm achievement harder, so if you're looking to play for a very long time, this would definitely do the trick. I would be careful where you put this, though, since it does numb anything it touches for more than three seconds. Another thing is that when applying this balm, use gloves. I forgot to do this when I tested it on my arm and my fingertips got a bit numb from applying the balm. Also, you don't want to accidentally get this ointment in your eyes or on your face. I did not try this, but I imagine getting something like this in, on or ear your eyes would be painful and perhaps damaging.

This product is water-based. The ingredients as listed on the jar are: Benzocaine, 7.5%, Water (Aqua), PEG 8, Glycerin, Proylene Glycol, Flavor (Aroma), Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Sucralose, FD&C Red #40 (CI 16035), D&C Red # 33 (CI 17200)

The Methyl Paraben is an astringent and is a commonly used fungicide, and the de-sensitizing component is actually the Benzocaine, which is an over-the-counter anesthetic. Because this gel can be eaten, don't eat too much since it will relax the gag-reflex and this can actually be very dangerous if you drink a lot of liquid and go to sleep or try to eat, since it will allow liquids into the airways if the muscles in your throat get too relaxed. So again, just be careful and smart with this product. The product is by no means deadly, as long as you pay attention to what you're doing with it, test it on your skin leisurely before you go to town with it, so to speak. If you're allergic to dyes in foods, do be careful and double check the dyes in this since it has Red #40 and Red #33.

The gel itself isn't very sticky, and the texture is quite nice. It's the consistency of hair gel, but it doesn't get flaky or very sticky, in fact when applied the texture is much like Neosporin or a similar ointment. It's safe to use with all toys. It washes away easily with warm water and soap. Even on an area that isn't so sensitive, like the inner wrist, the numbing effect can be felt, though it's not overwhelmingly strong in my opinion. These balms are edible. I'm not sure if other flavors might have a stronger numbing sensation, but I can easily say that I'm plenty satisfied with the mint in this department.
Experience
I did order the mint flavored one, and, I have to say, the flavor is absolutely horrific. I'm glad that I don't have a partner who would want to lick this since it does desensitize the tongue a bit and the taste is terrible. I cannot express this enough. Maybe the other flavors aren't bad, but the mint is certainly terrible. I probably won't return it, since the flavor has no use nor consequence to me, but still, if you DO plan on eating this product DON'T get the mint flavor. It honestly tastes like NyQuil and Robitussin had a baby. Ew.

I used it topically, but from what I understand, the Benzocaine is also commonly used in condoms and desensitizing creams to help those guys out there who ejaculate prematurely, so if you have that issue, you can try this. Also, if you're someone who's interested in giving your partner oral pleasure but your gag reflex won't let you, try this is well, SPARINGLY. We don't want anyone having issues, start small and use a little bit more until you're comfortable with the amount of numbness this product creates in the mouth. Without the gag reflex it IS possible to suffocate yourself if too much liquid ends up in your airways -this is most likely if you drink a lot of water and go to sleep. Just Google Pulmonary Aspiration. This could also be used on the anus for anal sex, just be sure to be careful.

My bottom line is that this is a fantastic product for blow jobs, anal, oral, whatever, just use caution.
