Fifty Shades of Grey book 1 - erotic book by Vintage Books - review by Nzingha

I was skeptical of reading a book that had such a cult following. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. As soon as I finished, I had to buy the other two in the series. Although the quality of writing is not very high, it does have an interesting, though improbable, plot. It is a very easy read and low-thinking entertainment. It was easy to read at any time, and does not require a lot of concentration to follow the plot. There are not many characters, so there are not many names to remember.

I was not at all aware of how subs and dominants worked until I read this book. The story really opened my eyes that there is a lot more than "vanilla" sexual experiences. Throughout this book, most of the sexual encounters were different. I really liked that the author was so creative in her descriptions. Around the middle of the book, the intensity lowers a lot and becomes almost boring. The author uses a lot of bondage experiences. The ending was definitely a great cliff-hanger!

Many of the toys and techniques caught my interest and I am now planning to try some of them with my boyfriend. Unfortunately, the author does not describe how to some of these techniques. Reading this book really boosted my curiosity. I was always horny while I was reading this book!

Readers should have an open mind when beginning this book. If you listen to what friends or anyone else has said about this book, you will have a jaded perspective. Imagining the scenes throughout the book was probably the best experience I had while reading it. It was kind of embarrassing to be caught reading it in public and in the office during down time. If you are easily embarrassed, you should read this book in private...with toys.
